Did you read the article or are you just latching onto the headline?

You think that's the fishermen asking for CFP? Or sharing their waters in any way?

Yes because editorial insight by Dacre or Murdoch is so impartial these days isn't it. Stick to major media if you wish, but you're waaaay behind the times and everyone else that follows anything even vaguely political. Or even news. At least on Twitter things like Wings and Hague/Whyte all get instant coverage for a full picture of topical issues as they occur. No matter where one stands in the debate.

Can't say that on a half hourly tucked away at half 10 at night barely watched Scotland current affairs program with two or three politicians all shouting over the top of each other.

Editorial oversight (not insight) is important because they generally only allow you to publish if you can verify and back up the story.

So unverified gufff, like the rubbish you read on WoS and Twitter as fact could well not be fact, there is no consequence if what they publish is 100% lies, no consequence to them that is. The editorial oversight means that the media more often than not will only give you honest facts, how they spin it is up to their bias but the raw facts remain the same otherwise they open themselves up to legal challenge.

The randoms and trolls on Twitter are not open to legal challenge, there is no motivation to tell the truth for those people and it's been proven many times in recent history that they do not tell the truth. Including SNP MP's and MSP's, retweeting and spreading misleading information regarding Scotland.

So Dacre and Murdoch are de-facto more truthworthy sources than blogs such as WoS, weegingerdug, Whytepaper and chokkablog. One group has something to lose by publishing lies, the other does not.

I would certainly temper that by saying you shouldn't stick to just one major media source, I've found the Guardian, BBC, Brietbart etc... will omit facts to support a narrative, but the facts they do report are still backed up with evidence. Their stories will generally hold up in court that they're based in a factual reality. Reading from multiple sources will generally give you the truth of the matter, and in international affairs you need to cross borders with your media too. The situation in Ukraine was poorly reported here, probably to do with the West's typical dislike of anything Putin so it's just easy to blame him.

Putting a stick in a hornets nest. Fallon has always been used as a lightning conductor by the tories.

Agree that it would be bad to deny it if Holyrood wanted one, but the timing is not purely at Holyrood's discretion. The UK government has bigger things to deal with currently.

Forget any supposed indignation about WM denying Scots a further referendum; it's manufactured like all of the false grudge and offence posted here.

There would be more people up here unhappy if TM did allow a 2nd referendum!! :T

I'm sorry that Twitter is beyond you. Because quite frankly it's where all the most up to date politics, breaking news and updates get done these days by everyone that matters. Even Trump uses it. You should get yourself an account and get yourself caught up with everyone else.

Scotland's exports are in trade surplus. That's marvelous. :)

It's "where all the most up to date politics, breaking news and updates get done these days by everyone that matters"?

Perhaps it does, but is also contains utter nonsense. And, oddly enough it's the utter nonsense that seems to attract your attention.

    The twitter post that you quoted;

..And in one stroke, 1/3 of the independent Scotlands black hole disappears. I cannot thank the staff at the Scottish Office enough for this.

    is both stupid and wrong.

It is clear that you don't understand why it is stupid and wrong. All you have succeeded in doing is making yourself look like a fool.

He backtracked massively on his Good Morning Scotland interview, then went on to sing the praises of Ruth 'Harrison'. :rotfl:
It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?

Of course it was wrong. It was a sarcastic joke of amusement as has already been pointed out on this thread. Do try and keep up ( maybe try Twitter ? ). :)

You may understand fake facts as a joke on twitter, some poor soul will think that is the case and may base their vote for independence on it. Which you would welcome I imagine?

Or are you unwilling to lead your fellow Scots up the garden path?

Me ? I don't tweet. I read them from all opinions, stances and political flavours. I also follow major celebs, minor celebs musicians ( James Blunt is hilarious ) and local news, traffic, weather and police twitter accounts. If there's anything going on worldwide, or down the bottom of my street it's all there instantly. I also read newspapers and subscribe to several. However, they also all tend to update and link to breaking news these days via Twitter.

You're missing lots if you rely on newspapers daily editions and tv news.

Anyone who votes for independence on the basis of one or two tweets they've read, obviously has in reality made their mind up long ago.
