No, in answer to your question.
PM May's answer was sufficient.
We don't need Sturgeons' utterings. She carries no weight.
It isn't about 'weight', it is about opinion. It is perfectly normal for NS and the other devolved nations' leaders to comment. Here's Carwyn Jones statement

and Arlene Foster's is quoted here, along with Martin McGuinness

We're not a 'region', we have a parliament and it is perfectly normal for the leaders of our parties to make a statement. There is no 'UK voice' - would you really not expect Jeremy Corbyn to make a statement?
Maybe it makes a difference whether she's talking on behalf of the parliament or the SNP?
If she's talking as leader of the SNP then fair enough she's free to attempt to gain a little political capital in the same way as Dugdale, Corbyn et al.
If it's parliament then as Scottish First Minister the congratulations should've been bland and she should've kept her opinions of Trump to herself during the campaign.
Being statesmanlike means you can't always have your cake and eat it.0 -

Yeah, I can see that does make a difference. Carwyn Jones didn't even congratulations him, not sure if he's being criticised for his statement.0 -
This comment really does say more about you than NS
Nicola Sturgeon made a fool of herself and has now compounded that with her false congratulations.
She has allowed her personal hatred to intrude on her position as First Minister. Her actions are appalling and could very well have done serious damage to Scotland.
Yet again Nats fail to represent Scotland.0 -
Fair enough, I didn't think NS should've openly support Hillary Clinton myself, and didn't think much of Kezia Dugdale actively campaigning in the States. I thought it was a misstep by both of them. I just don't think it will have any impact on NS's status.
It really doesn't matter what the Labour woman said, or any other politician not in power, they'll be quickly forgotten.
Sturgeon, if she does indeed get anywhere near indy, will need to talk to him face to face and ask for the help and cooperation on many matters.Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.0 -
Trump is against free trade deals string. Don't get your hopes up too much there.Trump's Victory Is Scaring Global Firms That Rely on Free Trade
Donald Trump’s victory in the U.S. election sent shockwaves through industries that rely on open trade, from airlines to cars and IT outsourcing, even though many executives remain unsure what his protectionist rhetoric will mean in practice.
Throughout his presidential campaign, Trump has vowed to revive the U.S. economy by slashing taxes, preventing companies from making products overseas, renegotiating trade accords and imposing tariffs on imports from countries like China. It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -

Sure. Glad to see Sturgeon is on exactly the same page as Merkel regarding equal rights and Trumps campaign. If Sturgeon is making a fool of herself in her statement then there are more than her in front of the queue. Thankfully.Angela Merkel Issues Not-So-Subtle Warning To Donald Trump After His Presidential Win
She hasn’t forgotten his divisive campaign.
Angela Merkel has issued a carefully-worded response to Donald Trump’s election as US President, taking aim at the divisive rhetoric he used during the campaign. While Theresa May simply congratulated Trump on his victory, Merkel said she would only offer “close cooperation” dependent on his commitment to equal rights.
The German Chancellor, who has been the driving force behind the EU’s acceptance of hundreds of thousands of refugees, said her relationship with Trump would only succeed if he upheld “the dignity of man, independent of origin”.
She said: “Germany and America are connected by values of democracy, freedom, and respect for the law and the dignity of man, independent of origin, skin colour, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or political views. It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -

The Angela Merkel who (it looks like) won't stand for re-election next year because she knows she would be soundly defeated?
Following what has become known in Germany as the migrant farce?
You really want Sturgeon in that queue?0 -
Merkel holds a far bigger stick to defend Germany than has Sturgeon for Scotland, I also don't think Merkel has gone out of her way recently to try and humiliate Trump.
So the Merkel comments are just another load of whatabouteryChange is inevitable, except from a vending machine.0 -

What Merkel says is of no concern to Scotland what Nicola says is of concern to Scotland.
So stop trying to deflect.
Nicola is not and never will be a statesman but then again the majority of us know that and have voted and will continue to vote accordingly should she by some miracle of biblical proportions manage to wangle IndyRef2.0
