Last night's leaders debate was meh, I reckon Patrick won it, Ruth appeared awfy shouty rude and caught with out, no doubt a photo op of her doing something will appear shortly, Kezia looked lost, Willie was surplus to requirement, although he got a couple of points across, Nicola was ok, nothing great though,
Will be glad when Thursday is over
I sort of half watched it. Pottering online as well as listening in. I did note Ruth, when questioned about the delays on the clydeside & possible redundancies opted for "well, if we'd have been independent there would be no frigates built here". I know she is right but good grief we voted no and we aren't independent so how is that in the least bit relevant to what is happening now? She was totally uneasy answering and unprepared showing weakness & unstinting loyalty to her leader & party. She didn't fill me with any confidence that she will fight for these workers. Besides that it was more or less what we hear daily right now. I would have liked the last 2 questions about standardised testing & PFI to have been answered. I didn't like how the chair allowed the questions then said we'd run out of time......
Roll on Friday, interesting times if indeed the tories come 2nd. I'll try and stay awake but doubtful if I can.
Grim up north? Have you folks ever been to Scotland? Some of the most spectacular scenery in the world! I never appreciated Loch Lomond & Ben Lomond on my doorstep until I returned after 2 years in the C.I.
We have it all except, sadly, the weather.0 -

It's sort of a running joke from Gen
I celebrate the grimness of the North West.
You can find fantastic countryside in lots of the UK, but if you choose to live in London it isn't really something you value.
Fair enough, different strokes and all that!0 -

Might be another referendum soon. Make your mind up. Intentionally create uncertainty and that's the outcome.0 -

It was a pre referendum threat & promise to secure contracts & jobs in order to secure a No vote. The governments wish was granted so it leaves a bad taste. Not just with me but I'd imagine quite a lot of scots remember these threats & promises.
I cannot foresee another referendum 'soon'. What's your definition of 'soon'? Mine would be within 5 years.0 -

Yes, many parts of the U.K. are stunning. I'm probably biased but Scotland's hills, mountains & lochs are hard to beat for sheer breathtaking beauty. City life isn't for me, I need greenery not greyness :-)0 -
In another thread, people are discussing the value for money that buyers get outside London (where, unless you've just arrived from a crashed UFO you'll not be amazed to learn, you get very little for your money).

Much of Scotland's scenery is stunning.
It's Grim Up North was written on a bridge on the A1 just north of London.0 -

Cripes! Dundee is a horrible place though IME or at least it used to be. It holds the record for the earliest I've seen someone arrested for being drunk.
It's one of those places where as far as I can see, pretty much the only private enterprise is selling discount booze 'n' cigs to people on the dole.0 -

I wonder how the people of Portsmouth view this latest SNP driven manifestation of the Scottish grievance culture. No wonder the people of Scotland are now viewed with such derision in the rUK with the SNP setting the narrative.“Britain- A friend to all, beholden to none”. 🇬🇧0
