Maybe she's planning a snap referendum next spring/summer. Best to get the bad news out of the way now and hope people will have forgotten it by then.If I don't reply to your post,

Well it's not fabulous news. BUT, the disappointment of the usual GERS folks ( Davidson, Dugdale, Andrew Neil, Alex Massie, Fraser Nelson etc ) that it's just the same as last time is pretty evident.
The really interesting part was this.Latest #GERS figures show that even with a 97% drop in oil revenue, the Scottish GDP has only been hit -0.45%.Yup. Actually, non-oil rise is higher than oil fall. Oil revenue down £1.802bn. Non-oil revenue up £1.924bn.So, the deficit is up slightly at 9.5%. Not as bad as I expected. Onshore revenue has increased to almost (but not quite) make up the shortfall in offshore revenue, as it did last year. Given this period covers the worst part of the oil crisis, we should see some small improvements next year.On-shore growth seems to have absorbed the effect of plummeting oil revenue.
Now all we need to know is what effect Brexit would have on Scotlands finances, compared to Scotland leaving and staying in the EU. Unanswerables of course, it will come down to who makes the best case.It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -
