Depends on your definition of the word 'mandate' I guess. My point was we have been here before umpteen times before. This thread is simply going around in circles most of the time.
No, it depends upon the result of referendums and that is the only place any mandate for independence comes from.
Britain voted to leave the EU = mandate to leave the EU.
Scotland voted to remain part of the union = mandate to stay in UK.
Surely that's easy enough to understand?
Unless and /or until a specific question is asked there can be no mandate.

It's strange that you suggest the thread goes around in circles and yet you yourself contribute to the effect - more than once.

For those of you who aren't in the loop with the meltdown of the SNP there is a great article here:-

SNP in Toxic Meltdown, discipline out the window, morals out the window, decency out the window, fresh calls for Derek Mackay to quit as he earns almost £5,000 since scandal and bad tempered Westminster group meeting about Mhairi Black’s activities and conduct, Mackay and Black have both crossed a line showing they are unfit for public office, neither have the decency to resign, how small Scotland has become represented by these people

A bit of SNP bashing and a sprinkling of LGBT-phobia ...Great article? Nah.
And the chap needs to learn to apply full stops in his blog post titles.

You aren't from these parts are you?

One thing must be sacrosanct, politicians should be kept out of schools, they can not indoctrinate our children under the guise of education.

    Internal tensions keep building.........
  • Stop kidding yourself on. There will never be any mandate good enough for Westminster to issue a section 30. Holyrood will have to go against Westminster in order to have an indy ref, it's just a case of when. And that's the biggest question mark we have on the issue. When.
2021. When the brexit debacle hits home.

Soon be 4 years since the referendum was held. Much has changed in that time frame.

Doughty Scots are like the dwarves from Lord of the Rings. They do not make decisions lightly or quickly. They deliberate. They are used to dark places and endless cold alleviated by roaring fires. They have waited, and they have seen the direction that England will take them.

With regret, they will abandon the old alliance, and strike out for themselves.
