But who has time to read the manifesto. I was told by Scots friends of mine, that live down here but have family still in Scotland, that what they were saying at the door was that it was about getting rid of the Tories rather than about independence.
Bit of a moot point really, unless/until they manage to get another vote. As for the Scots election next year, I suspect the SNP need to seriously pull their socks up if they are going to win that one.
If they had allowed the rUK to vote in the previous referendum it would have solved their problems, they would have been out of the UK and out of the eu, probably still trying to figure out what to use for a currency, how to fund embassies and defence, education and nhs whilst still trying to look like they cared about the Scottish people. That is if the SNP hadn't been kicked into the long grass by now.
What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare2 -
How do they get rid of the Tories beyond independence?
You dont need to read the manifesto at all to know the SNP are all about independence; it's in their name and it's all the Tories were banging on about; a vote for the Tories prevents independence. The Tories got rinsed though.
Come to think of it; I thought you've complained about wee Cranky going on about independence before too. So are you trying to pretend you didn't realise the Scottish Nationalist Party didn't want independence?2 -
The Scottish Sentencing Council are arguing that adult offenders under 25 should not be jailed because their brains are too immature
.
Meanwhile the Nats believe that children of 16 are mature enough to decide on their gender and if that wasn't bad enough they have already given children of 16 the vote.
And the Nats want to be taken seriously,

And the Nats want to be taken seriously,If the Scottish Sentencing Council are such an infallible authority, should we not just ask them to decide which party should be in power and whether Scotland should declare independence or not?Anyone can decide on their gender at any age, that's what gender means (as opposed to sex which depends on your genes). The capacity to make your own decisions on medical treatment is of course a different kettle of fish. The voting age has nothing to do with making sensible voting decisions, we have universal suffrage both in Scotland and the rest of the UK. If we wanted to restrict the vote based on ability to make sensible decisions, we'd go back to requiring a certain level of assets or introduce an IQ test. The voting age is set at a level that ensures a fair contest and regular rotation. The only reason it is set at 16 or 18 is because it has to be set somewhere (votes for babies would distort the process) and 16-18 is where you get a fair balance between the left (for whom most teenagers vote) and the right. It is part of the constant war of gerrymandering (redrawing election boundaries) and withdrawing / granting votes for criminals that the parties conduct between each other.1 -
Depends on your definition of the word 'mandate' I guess. My point was we have been here before umpteen times before. This thread is simply going around in circles most of the time. The highest form of ignorance is when you reject something you don't know anything about.

We all know why the voting age was dropped to 16............years of Nationalist indoctrination at school is meant to give the Nats a majority in the IndiRef2 it all about moving the deck quoits whilst the ship is sinking.
