Yes, but the tax (as well as the VAT and excise duty) on these businesses flows to a Scottish finance ministry as it will with every business in Scotland after independencebaldly going on...0 -

Every country was told it was a basket case whilst Britain took its wealth. Like India. Funnily.enough none of them want to put Weetminster back in control.
If offshore ownership prevents any tax going to the coffers there should be no reason not to allow Scotland to not get this fictional money. I believe that's part of the tax loophole clampdown the EU is driving for which Westminster is so desperate to avoid.
No mention of the March today; what were you guys down with told about it?0 -

Not for the first time in your desperation to frame this as a “nasty England” story, you ignore or are more likely ignorant of historical fact.
The empire was a British construct not a solely English one, and in fact Scots were very keen empire builders and lest we forget Glasgow and the huge wealth it earned as the result of its status as the 2nd city of the empire.
We also remember the British Union was not created as a result of an English invasion or expansionism, but from a vote in our respective parliaments.
I know you are not originally from this islands, but I suggest you engage in some rudimentary studies on British history before you spout off on here. All too often people like you buy into the SNP grievance narrative, all I say is educate yourself before you rely on their politically expedient fairy stories.“Britain- A friend to all, beholden to none”. 🇬🇧0 -
Interesting sectarian element to the Nationalist March yesterday. I’m not sure the spectacle of Irish republican flags flying alongside The Saltire will do much for areas outside of the central belt who would rather view Scottish independence as of the civic variety rather than one that is defined as anti British/English.“Britain- A friend to all, beholden to none”. 🇬🇧0

Maybe it's unfair to pin the occupation of India purely on England. I'll need to read up on it a bit further but the impression I get was that most of the overseers were English, and the decision to split the country came from Westminster.
Glasgow certainly has a shady past regarding the Empire and the slave trade in particular, I womt deny that, and theres still plenty of signs of it in the architecture.
I've lived here 35 years, so I'd hardly count myself as unqualified to know what's happening here or our history.
I'm sorry if you feel my status as foreigner means I have less say in my own country.0 -

Is this where you try to discredit the SNP by trying to claim they are all IRA supporters?
Theres a reasonably large Irish population and a lot of them are Republican, which I can understand though I in no way condone any violence and wish it'd get out of football too.
Do you have any evidence that it was prolific in the March? I saw one banner saying "Scotland out of Britain, Britain out of Ireland" but nothing else.
There's usually be some red hand banners from the Unionist side, but since only 30 unionists turned up to the counter protest they didn't have anywhere to hide them.
Interestingly, the Unioniats are trying to claim 10,000 people turned up to March for independence, whilst the press says 80,000 and the number seems to be more like 150,000.0 -

Trom it’s important to consider that Herzlos has absolutely no interest in anything other than remaining in the EU. All this independence guff is just a smokescreen for finding a route to stay as close to the EU as possible.
Plan A (second brexit referendum) was shot down first and plan B ( scottish independence in the next year so, the immediate and unconditional joining of the EU, the mass exodus of business and capital to Edinburgh ) has even less chance of actually happening.
Plan C will be that the UK decides to reapply to the EU in about five years time. I think we all know where that will end up too.0 -

Westminster sees the 4 countries as the last remaining part of its colonies and administers them accordingly.
What were we told about the march? We were told that Jess Phillips would like to be the next Prime Minister.and that she's the Telegraphs favourite too. We were told that Harry and Megan are simply awful but the royal family are more important to Britons than ever. What else, something about never having it so good I think. Nothing about any marches.0 -
It's about time some of the wind was taken out of the SNP's sails; for far too long they've dictated the perception of Scots in the rest of the UK.
If a few of you want to have a wee knees-up in Glasgow & frame it as an independence rally that's surely Scottish news if anything.
Why should the rest of the UK be interested in a few mouthy types stamping their feet when they obviously don't represent how the whole country feels?
When you can get your act together and prove that a majority want independence without lying, without whataboutery and with hard evidence you might (just might after all the recent drivel) find more outside Scotland will listen seriously to you but for now you do not have that.0
