I don't think that'll be the case, we're putting a lot of effort into keeping NHS Scotland as intended, and seem to care more about it than England does. I'm pretty confident there will be an NHs up here long after you've given it away.

We'll probably need to do something to curb English health tourists though, unfortunately.

All the effort isn't solving any of the NHS's problems is it, and neither is all the money Scots plow into it.
Even your own Audit Scotland says the NHS in Scotland is heading for a crash - well done Nicola Sturgeon.
It'll take more than the curbing of a few English health tourists that get an allergic reaction to your midges to ease the huge deficit in funding heading your way.

Won't get any health tourists up here ! Driving 70 miles on mainly single carriageway roads to have a baby or the same for a child if it involves an overnight stay when a perfectly good local full service hospital is already there but understaffed does not seem like keeping the NHS as intended. All we get from the health board is missed deadlines and platitudes from the SNP government about how they are investing in the NHS but as it is not the central belt ...........

I think England will be OK, we're alone in the Union in being in fiscal surplus down here and ready to spend the extra £10BN that we currently send Scotland's way on our public services should the majority of Scots hit the nuclear button and opt for independence.
As Andrew Neil suggested the other day, the choices for you will be stark in a newly independent Scotland's quest to balance the books, raise taxes or slash spending.
    What's your preference Herzlos?

  • Special measures not ruled out for NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

The SNP have failed the people of Scotland in transport, education and policing and now the NHS. Trust the SNP?

    Taxes are already higher.

England won't be ok. You've forgotten to factor in the billions lost due to Brexit. Too many here reasoning Scottish independence against 2014 factors that are no longer in play. England won't be 'fine'. Andrew Neil as usual isolates Scottish figures providing no context and no Brexit scenarios.

I'm afraid against the possible damage Brexit will cause economically, Scottish independence looks far more attractive to those who weren't persuaded in 2014. No/Remain voters are the fastest growing No to Yes group in all polling conducted.

Also the English NHS is in a far, far worse state than the Scottish one ( which is the best performing in the UK at the moment ). The SNP have looked after it far better than the Tories have the English one. Longest ever waiting lists on record down south, staff leaving in droves...was always thus when the Tories are in charge of it. Truly terrible management from 2010 onwards. I wouldn't be throwing any stones in glass houses when it comes to the NHS.
It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?

It depends on your bubble I guess. The pro IndyCar protests drown out the anti, by orders of magnitude. I know a few people who've switched No to Yes, but none the reverse.

I know a few people the other way- Yes to No, but like you only the opposite way I dont know of any from No to Yes, I guess there will most likely be quite a few on both sides, but just maybe it's more to do with our circle of friends and acquaintances as opposed to a major shift either way?
  • Given they've had five years to think about it there's no sane reason anyone would ever vote yes.
