After today's news surely the SNP should call an early election and reinforce their mandate. If's it that strong.

Scottish election that is. Not UK general.

Thought it funny that the SNP regard Brexit as dangerous to the the Scottish economy. However don't express the same reservations when it comes to independence. If there ever was a case of cake and eat it. This is it. Totally blinkered mindset.

Any future Remain in UK campaign would use fear as a tactic. It's a powerful motivation to stick with the norm. It explains why my EU-Remain voting relatives chose that option.

An iScotland is the minority player in negotiations with rUK, just like the UK with the EU.

You have seen how that plays out, yes? It's unlikely to resolve quickly, and a socialist SNP will burn the cash with their uber-generous to all approach.
I meant that the Yes side this time will use fear as a tactic. Last time it was all positivity and happy rallies. Is taken as read any future Remain in UK campaign will do likewise. Where do you think 'Project Fear' got their name from in 2014 ?

Why would an iScotland be a minor player in negotiations ? You don't expand on that very well.
It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?

They won't. They'll accelerate their referendum bill through Holyrood then announce a ref. It'll end up in court of course but the holding of non-binding referendums isn't reserved to Westminster so...

There'll be plenty left in Scotland with very vocal and strong No votes still. However it's the No voters that came out last time but won't next time that should really worry Westminster. There's no Labour govt in sight like last time, and Brexit is just as big a fear factor economically as independence is. Brexit UK with Boris in charge politically. Not looking good.

Looks fine to me. I'm fully in favour of democracy. Decentralisation is a far more effective form of managing an economy. I've travelled extensively in the Pyrennes region. On the French side there's still a high Basque speaking population. Paris is remote to them. As Westminster is to you.

Let's hope that the Scottish economy doesn't slump in the intervening period leading up to 2021. Be embarrassing if there was insufficient support for the main proponents.
