Would you applaud any leader or organisation irrespective of your agreement with them, their policies or activities? Corbyn? Putin? Kim Jong-un? How about Len McCluskey? Adam Walker? (Current Chairman of the BNP - I had to look it up, honest!)
Applause on demand is for dictatorships, not democracies.

The issue was whether one respects the people holding genuine different political views in the context of UK politiicans.
One can respect an individual and their personal circumstances without agreeing with their political views.
From what you say, the SNP view of other mainstream UK politicians is to equate them to Putin and Kim Youg-un.
Enough said.0 -

Probably why politicians themselves no longer garner respect. Too focused on their own personal political views, i.e. imposing them. Rather than representing and listening to the far more moderate electorate.0 -
Hope the bit I've put in bold is directed at the poster and not at Scot's in general.
I'll say it again once more, and will keep saying it; Sturgeon and the SNP do not speak for me nor people who voted NO in our referendum.
Sturgeon's repeated assertation that she acts and speaks in the interest of Scots disgust me.
We are not a nation of whingers with a chip on our shoulders as SNP politicians project us as.
We're happy with our lot in the UK thank you very much!
You sure you havnt got a chip on yer shoulder? The way you whinge about your countries government the one the people in a democracy voted for and the way you moan about them working for their electorate would suggest otherwise0 -

I'm making legitimate comments about scottish politics and trying to help people from other parts of the UK realise that we're not all pro Sturgeon, chip on our shoulder, indy-supporters.
Why do you feel the need to get personal?
BTW, my country's government is in Westminster0 -

Sturgeon feels she has the mandate though. As a consequence there's no alternative voice to be heard. Be interesting when the focus returns to Scottish domestic issues.0 -
Lord, this thread is still going? And still as angry as ever I see. I think the unionists know deep in their hearts that independence is inevitable and that's why they get so enraged. Someone should tell historywoman and Effie Deans about this thread, they'd absolutely love it!
Last comment's hysterical, complains about someone being too personal while doing the same about others. Oof.0 -

There is a focus on domestic issues but I doubt that it is reported much outside Scotland. Plenty of debate on education, attainment, GIRFEC, LGBT issues, new welfare powers etc.0 -

If Brexit is going to impact the economies of England and Wales. Then the neverendendum must by now beginning to greatly impact business decision making in Scotland. At least you'll be getting RBS back in it's purest form. A small insignificant regional bank.0 -

I'm not being any more personal than you areye cannae accuse people of one thing whilst doing the same yer self
Alot of people that support the SNP feel Nicola makes legitimate comments about Scotlands politics on their behalf ...
Sorry I didn't realise you lived in England ... you have my sympathies being goverened by WM, I truly hope the people living in England gain the strength needed to have their own parliament Iñ stead of relying on WM to rule them ... good luck ... but try not to hate yer Scottish neighbours just because their country chose though a democratic election to have the SNP look after their interests and rule their country0 -

Aye Effie Dean's and History woman are some characters ... along with Ian Smart they give unionists a bad name ... and I don't believe all unionists are bad , in fact I reckon most are really nice ... but like everything a few bad apples can spoil so many reputations0
