SNP romping it everywhere miles ahead of everyone apart from in Shetland/Orkney. Tories doing really badly... but Labour 6th, SIXTH in Edinburgh !

I don't think Richard Leonard will survive this. Ruth Davidson needs to change the tired old 'get Nicola telt, no referendum' message also. As for elsewhere in the UK I'm afraid to look. It's like a different country or something ;)
It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?

Don't you love the spin on election nights.

Trouble is no one listens anymore.

    What's the turnout?

    Bet that it is low.

I honestly never thought I would see the day. In the days when I first voted (to join EEC funnily enough) you could put a red rosette on a chimpanzee and they would get a thumping majority in parts of the Central Belt. I’m in shock.

If anything even remotely resembling this swing to SNP takes place at a GE the Tories would lose all 13 of their Scottish seats.
I take your point but do you think tactical voting was a factor? SNP has ‘leave’ support and the Tories a ‘remain’ faction. I was interested to see that the SNP made share of the vote gains in Shetland and Orkney against the Lib Dem’s

Are they? No one in England can vote for the SNP so you have to look for England's version, which is currently the Brexit Party. English people who vote Brexit are separatist, an uncomfortable alliance of left and right wingers, and would be quite happy to be separate from Scotland as well as the EU. All part of a union they consider to be defunct and holding them back.

Based on that paradigm, Scottish voting looks very similar to England's, at least in outlook.

Of course the one thing they have in common is that neither of them are a majority, or will get to be independent of anything. No matter how excited Shakey gets, or how many brave tartan tweets start emanating from Bath. ;)

    Nicola starting to name dates.
"I want to see Scotland having the choice of independence within this term of the Scottish Parliament, which ends in May 2021, so towards the latter half of next year would be when I think is the right time for that choice."
Scotland should hold a second independence referendum next year, the SNP leader, Nicola Sturgeon, says. the country’s First Minister made the comments on a visit to Dublin, where she said the “latter half” of 2020 would be the “right time” for a new po

Good finally to see things starting to move after 3 years of holding. Even if Arklight is scared stiff of it all. ;) Ian Blackford apparently saying the same thing on radio earlier too.
