But yes, there will be a vote soon because as you say, there was a vote in the recent past. One which unfortunately sets a precedent for future votes :- should Scots vote into power any party with a referendum in it's manifesto just as they did in 2011. Oh wait...It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -
There you go again, speaking for all Scots when you patently don’t.
Such is your desperation to engender a wider sense of anti-English grievance to all Scots, you over exaggerate as usual.
Nicola keeping her powder dry at the moment. There's no point in railing and wailing against a PM who is on the way out. Fingers crossed the Tories elect someone even more useless. Boris would be ideal. The last time it looked like a Brext and Boris Johnson combo in power indy polls shot into 'get us out of here' territory almost immediately. :rotfl:
Remember the below because as soon as Theresa goes... these below polling numbers in Scotland are almost certainly back on the cards. The bold are the Yes numbers.24–28 Jun 2016 Survation/Scottish Daily Mail 1,055 47% 41% 12% 6%
25–26 Jun 2016 Panelbase/Sunday Times 626 47% 44% 8% 3%
25 Jun 2016 Survation/Daily Record 1,002 48% 41% 9% 7%
24 Jun 2016 David Cameron resigns as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom
23 Jun 2016 EU membership referendum, 2016.It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.

No one would actually know there was an EU election coming up.It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.

The Herald picked up on this under the headline “Tories’ letter to households mentions Brexit just once”.
Nice redaction, you could get a job in the American Justice Department.....The highest form of ignorance is when you reject something you don't know anything about.

What I find so morally repugnant about Scots nationalism is that they're always keenest on independence when they think there's some money about that they can avoid sharing.
It's absolutely no accident that they think they want independence now because oil. Before there was oil they weren't anything like as keen. Once oil becomes obsolete, the enthusiasm for independence will wane because once again the only money in prospect will be English money. Like a dog returning to its vomit, the nats will turn to England once more, with their palms held out for English money.
The fact is that there is zero prospect of an independent Scotland being able to claim any existing North Sea oil or gas reserves. The acreages concerned were all apportioned among the relevant countries in the 1960s, and those countries included the United Kingdom. As the United Kingdom will still exist, the provisions of those treaties will remain in force, because all the signatories still exist.
iScotland will have to negotiate a share of future discoveries, and then compete with other governments to offer the best terms to E&P companies. Given the choice of whether to bring Scottish oil and gas ashore rather than UK, Norwegian, Danish etc, who are all stable countries with a track record of plain dealing, iScotland will have to offer hefty tax breaks. All this means iScotland would get a smaller share than it imagines of a smaller production than it imagines.
The oil companies have extensive experience dealing with backward, corrupt, unstable, semi-feudal oil-dependent kleptocracies with an ill-educated population, such as Iran, Russia and Saudi. This experience will be highly relevant when they add the very similar iScotland to that list.0 -
Will the UK still exist? The full name is 'United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland', 'Great Britain' was created after the 1707 Act of Union between England, Wales & Scotland. So if Scotland went independent would 'Great Britain' no longer be in existence? This is a question not a statement. Regarding North Sea reserves was this not discussed and plans drawn up prior to 2014? I don't recall it being an issue then but happy to be corrected. The highest form of ignorance is when you reject something you don't know anything about.

Look at it this way. If Steeple Bumstead seceded from the UK, would the UK still exist?
Scotland, same principle.0 -
Steeple Bumstead wasn't party to the Act of Union. Ok guess we will need to see what happens then. The highest form of ignorance is when you reject something you don't know anything about.
