The SNP also got a higher share of the Scottish vote than the Conservatives did across the UK (bear in mind the Conservatives are in the UK government with a lower share of the UK vote than the SNP got in Scotland.)
The UK constitution is a reserved matter. The Scottish Parliament has no power to hold a referendum on independence. The SNP could put a commitment to grant every Scottish resident free entry to Universal Orlando Resort on Burns Day or whatever in its manifesto. The Scottish Parliament could pass the Universal Orlando Resort Act implementing this freebie. Or any such tomfoolery. Comcast, whom I believe is the owner, can just laugh and ignore it.
Only the UK Parliament can legislate for a referendum.0 -

Do you not agree with Ruth Davidson in the video above?

Except they won’t vote for one themselves because they know when it actually goes to the polls the result will be no. Again.0 -

The Scottish Parliament HAS voted in favor of a referendum (the Greens and the SNP have over half the seats together) and it has been knocked back.
So your above post is factually incorrect, I look forward to your correction.baldly going on...0 -

You bet there was - Nicola Sturgeon is trying to keep Yes voters happy while kicking Indy 2 into the long grass - If there is another No vote, she will have to do the same as Alex Salmond and resign - she expected a Surge for Independence after the EU referendum. That still has not come.Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.0 -

Because she cannot offer EU membership as a carrot. Which poses a real challenge. The domestic economy needs to be her priority. Until self sufficient there'll remain too many unconvinced by the economics. Whatever there feeling in their hearts. Bottom line will always be the practicalities.0 -
For those that don't know, Billy Connolly has always been pretty strongly pro-union.... Brexit really does change everything.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”

It's got vastly more potential customers in the EEA +Switzerland than it has in the UK. It'll force Scotland to get its act together, and from what I know of the Scots and their resourcefulness, they'll rise to the challenge. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0
