Incidentally I also no longer purchase things from Amazon for political reasons, haven't done sInce last year, it makes life a wee bit harder but I will not support a company that treat their employees so appallingly ... but according to you that is wrong . I should just carry on buying from a company that pay their workers very little and make them work under appalling conditions

I also no longer purchase bottled water for poltical reasons as I don't like what harm it does to the environment, I don't purchase plastic bags for the same reason ... I recognise I can do a lot more but I am slowly trying to introduce things in my life that makes me a more thinking consumer .... but that is wrong according to you ...

I also actively protested against fracking ( including spending MY money) ensuring it doesnt happen in my country which may or may not have cost some people some employment .... but as you see it I should blindly carry on regardless not choosing where and when I spend the money or personal time I work so hard for

As choosing where i spend MY money may lead to dictating what jobs people can and can't get

What an organisation does is different to the personal views of one individual at the organisation.

You can choose not to support organisations that have bad practices and no one should shame you for that. But last I checked the National Trust isn't one of these organisations, yet you chose to cease supporting them because of one individuals political stance rather than what that individual actually does on behalf of that organisation or what the organisation does.

Of course you're entitled to choose where your money is spent, but don't fool yourself that such an action doesn't leave you wide open to judgement from others based on your actions towards an organisation that in my opinion should continue to get your support if you are to continue to use their service. There will be many people working for them who care deeply about what they do and rely on the subscriptions to continue to look after these locations around the country and keep them in a job they love. You decided to turn your back on them and their work despite getting enjoyment from it for the sake of one individuals personal political stance.

Oh thank you so much for agreeing that I can spend my money how I wish ( spot the sarcasm) ... and as for the judging of me ... don't flatter yourself that I care what you think or others ... what other people think of me is none of my business ...

And guilt tripping me won't work either ... most of NTS workforce is through volunteers ... I imagine they will be losing some of them just now as well ... but it is their choice how they choose to proceed ... like it's my choice where I spend my money ... the people's jobs at NTS are no more important than those at Amazon or the plastic bottle making company ... .. out door access code is what allows me to hill walk ... not the NTS

On the run up to the SNP conference there would appear to be divisions within the ranks.

Will Nicola receive her P45 before Theresa?

    I'm not flattering myself.

I'm laughing that you created the bitter pill of shame that you now have to swallow all by yourself and you crowed about it like it was a virtue.

If others in the pro independence camp think as you do it's no wonder others are turning away from the idea, and if not the idea of independence then certainly the brand that's been trying to achieve it in recent memory. It's toxic, your case is just one example of that being so.

    poll.jpg

Based on the voting intentions of 1,135 Scottish adults questioned between October 2 and October 5, researchers predict the SNP would secure 57 seats in a Holyrood election, down six from their 2016 figure.

i'm still not a fan of polls as they have proved far too inaccurate recently, even so this one does keep the pressure on ahead of the SNP conference.

Nothing like what the Times headline wanted to spin sadly for you.
    Constituency vote:
    SNP 42%
    Labour 25%
    Conservatives 25%
    Liberal Democrats 5%

    Regional list vote:
    SNP 35%
    Labour 24%
    Conservatives 23%
    Greens 6%
    Liberal Democrats 6%
    UKIP 1%
However totally and utterly meaningless for an election a few years away. The polls couldn't even get the 2017 General Election right the night before it.

This might be of interest though.
Sturgeon vows to help EU citizens stay in Scotland after Brexit

Speaking ahead of the Glasgow event, First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said she wants to explore "all options" to secure the rights of EU citizens who “make an enormous contribution” to Scotland.
The SNP’s plan could include paying any costs that arise due to Brexit for the 20,000 EU nationals who currently work in Scotland’s public sector should they choose to stay.

It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?

You mean wading in to an area that is not devolved?

Anyway regardless of that I think you will find that the plan is to protect anyone from the EU who was in the UK before article 50 was triggered and I imagine that will be stretched as well.

Might I suggest she is tilting at windmills?

I doubt it. Nicola is well aware what is devolved and what isn't.

Also of interest because even the thought of it is hilarious.. this newspaper is the most rabid unionist publication in Scotland and the comments section is a joy to behold of anti SNP/Sturgeon and Salmond rants...
Salmond could grab headlines — by joining bid to buy The Scotsman

Alex Salmond is involved in a plan to buy The Scotsman newspaper, it is understood.
Sources have told The Sunday Times that the former first minister, who lost his Gordon seat in the last general election, wants to work with a consortium to acquire the title from debt-laden Johnston Press.

:rotfl:John Swinney not holding back today either. I guess he's as weary as the rest of us of the Scottish media/BBC pumping up Davidson's policy free career balloon.
John Swinney just called @RuthDavidsonMSP a "right-wing, educationally ill-informed Twitter personality" in the vein of Katie Hopkins.

this newspaper is the most rabid unionist publication:

Unlike The National which is the most rabid pro indy newspaper.

Speaking of which, here is a link to a recent issue which made me smile.

    http://www.thenational.scot/news/15571643.Nicola_Sturgeon_says_2_million_Catalan_votes_for_independence_cannot_be_ignored/

Unlike 2 million pro union voters in Scotland whom Nicola manages to ignore perfectly easily.

Ill informed compared to Swinney? When's that oil boom happening again?

The SNP and those associated have long since lost the ability to pull the wool over the eyes of others.
