  • I really don't care if she is being touted as the next monarch.

My issue is with those who revere the SNP, as you do, casitgating for the very thing the SNP has had a monopoly on for many many years via multiple mouthpieces.

    i.e. hypocrisy
Castigating what ? I have no idea what you're talking about lol. I am not keen on Davidson/the Tories, you aren't keen on the SNP/Salmond or Sturgeon. What's hypocritical about that ?

Ruth Davidson is on manoeuvres though ( well, she is a Colonel now ) just as much as Johnson is. Definitely worth commenting on with Theresa May's leadership so weakened right now. Would you like her as PM then ? Genuine question.
It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?

We have a PM until 2022 as far as I'm concerned. Anything else is just idle chatter.

But if you're going to try to say that Davidson is ill informed then you must also recognise your own heroes and heroines are also ill informed.

In my opinion yes, Ruth Davidson IS incredibly ill informed. Her only policy is a soundbite ( no to a second referendum ) and week after week in FMQ's she bumbles along using cut and paste articles from newspapers, frequently confusing what's devolved and what isn't... and when there's a hint of pressure on Conservative party policy itself.. disappears off the media radar citing 'unavailable for interviews'. She doesn't even bother holding constituency surgeries.

Salmond and Sturgeon have faults. But disappearing from critical policy scrutiny or public view to defend their own party policies isn't one of them. Also due to this 24/7 scrutiny they have to know every single policy and nuance of them backwards. Davidson has never had to do this. I look forward to the day she actually has to defend Conservative party policy. But at the moment given she's being given the free pass/never off the front page for the slightest comment Farage treatment by BBC Scotland etc.. it seems that they only way she'll ever have to do so, is by gaining a safe seat in leafy Berkshire or somewhere similar.

She really IS testing the waters though as your next PM.

Not right now, but give it a year or two. She'll be wanting to avoid the worst of Brexit blame seeing she's a remainer.. Would you like to see her as PM or leader of the Conservative party Tricky ?

  • The next ref campaign will mention oil very little though.

I'm surprised they are still allowed to drill for oil.

The government are busy banning fracking in Scotland and want us to be using all electric cars by 2032.

The only positive thing being if we don't frack now we will at least still have it for future generations when this pie in the sky all electric solution is found to be a crock of ..........

Meanwhile the nats plan on sorting our economy on the back of rising oil prices.....lol.

That's not what I said, and I have no opinion on the matter of her being Conservative party leader.

My posts have only been about, basically but not exactly, the fable that people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. I think you can grasp what I'm saying but appear not to want to acknowledge it.

In your opinion, which you've made quite clear, Davidson is ill informed. With that in mind you must by default concede that by the same standards with which you judge Davidson, Salmond, Sturgeon, Swinney, Cherry, et al are also ill informed.

All that fuss about fracking. Probably for nothing.
UK shale gas overhyped because geology is unsuitable for fracking

Professor John Underhill, Chief Scientist at Heriot-Watt University, said today Britain could be 55m years too late for a shale gas revolution. Shale-bearing rocks may not be suitable for fracking because they have been uplifted, tilted and deformed by geological changes.

No, we're talking politics not moralising about glass houses. I think all the SNP politicians you've named are extremely well informed within their remits. Davidson however, is really bad.

It's stuff like the below all the time. Never checks and never researches properly. Never taken to task though so probably doesn't feel she has to.
The Conservative leader then brought up an email she had received from a teacher trained in England who wanted to teach in Scotland but would have to go through a one-year retraining programme instead of entering straight into the profession...

...The First Minister added: "Ruth Davidson asks me why haven't we fixed that. Well I'm afraid Ms Davidson the answer is we have, you just didn't bother to do the research to find out."

Am really hoping you'll take her on as an MP down your way. Her constituents will never be bothered by her holding surgeries or actually doing much in the way of work. Perhaps 'no to a second ( EU ) referendum' will do as a catch all policy instead ? ;)

You might be talking politics, I wasn't.

I know you're well aware that the point I've made stands up to scrutiny and that the vigour with which you aim your barbs at Davidson is never pointed towards the SNP or any other pro-independence advocate. Either you judge them all by the same standards or you can be accused of having double standards or being a hypocrite, or both to be fair. But you should not feel comfortable trying to knock your rival if people you hold up as examples are guilty of the same.

Hahaha You think the SNP are held to the same standards as Ruth Davidson ? They're held to far higher than that.

Which is kind of my point. Davidson disappearing off when two of her councillors recently suspended in racist and sectarian tweets were quietly admitted back into the party. They thought no one would notice but someone did. It took Ruth days to appear in front of tv cameras and when she did she lied saying they had apologised ( one has refused to ) and both had been signed up for diversity courses ( the company running the course Ruth named hadn't had any sign ups ).

Oh no, Sturgeon and Salmond before her would never have gotten away with that. And indeed an MP was hounded on front page news cover to cover because of something her solicitor may or may not have done. She was never charged with anything. 'How can you sleep at night ?' the newspapers screamed.

But look this is old news. I was just making the point that Davidson has hopes far higher than just leading the Scottish Tory party. And at the moment seems to have plenty of support too. Nothing would give me greater pleasure than to see Davidson crash and burn as an MP under even a quarter of the intense media scrutiny Sturgeon gets. But my smirky amusement would fade fast if she was named as PM ( which she would be if she won a leadership contest before 2021 ). I think there's a chance she could be just as bad as May, and even worse, she'd giggle a lot while being just a crap. And all those wacky pics of her too... nope. :p

Except they do get away with it. You failed to offer this up, why?
