Trouble is that Westminster is actually truly going to have to take powers back from the devolved governments. How a weakened May govt does that is so far uncertain, as well as the political fallout of any attempts to do so.

Not as well as this is...

Lightbulb moments starting to hit rural Tory Scotland. Was always going to happen.

Your gloating about hardship happening to a certain section of Scottish industry says everything about your cult that decent Scots abhor.
    Quite shameful.

Shakey has recently shown quite an ugly side to her character but I suppose this is what happens when Nats are forced on to the back foot.

Farmers voted to get rid of CAP and EU subsidies, they're just going to have to face the reality of what they voted for a bit sooner than they thought I guess. They've a bit of a brass neck bleating on about not getting EU subsidy payments these days.

The nats are following a burnt earth policy to destroy farmers and businesses that do not tow the party line. Very dangerous.

It would be a first for nationalism if the SNP were delivering the nice sort.

Most Europeans must never have seen a black sort of swan, but there's a first time for everything!;)

Here's a factual link relating to actual farmland prices rather than someone's opinion as to what might possibly happen.

    http://www.savills.co.uk/research_articles/141557/213822-0

Prices have increased by 149% over the last ten years so a relatively modest fallback would hardly be a disaster if it happened.

As for subsidies. How they work is that the UK sends money to the EU and the EU sends some of it back. Better to cut out the middle man. It's acknowledged nearly everywhere that the CAP is a disaster and requires reform. Blair was promised that when he gave up our rebate but in true EU fashion, the main beneficiaries (France, who else?) saw to it that it didn't happen.

Hey, don't worry about me, it's an Tory ( recently ) MEP who's saying all this stuff. Sounds about right though, no deal means farming, agriculture and fishing face incredible challenges.

It'll be an interesting watch to see how the Tory MP's in Scotland go with this one. I suspect that's why Ruth Davidson was out of the starting blocks immediately after the GE carping about how a Soft Brexit would be better all round.
It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?

NHS in Scotland under the SNP:-

...another blinder by Sturgeon and the SNP?

No, just another made up Express article.

You know nothing at all about my character. I'm a set of pixels on a screen to you. And I'd rather state my case than be the kind of yawn inducing poster that thinks coping and pasting entire articles from the Telegraph or the Scotsman while thinking 'right, that's that settled then' to be honest with you.

Don't be silly. That's the Hard Brexiteers. Farmers and businesses who voted or advocated leaving the EU have made their own beds am afraid if it all goes badly.

They voted to end EU subsidies too. No point clutching pearls now about late CAP payments when by March 2019 they won't be getting any at all. Think of it as easing them in gently to 0 CAP payments if it makes you feel better ?

The transition to other income sources. Like other parts of the UK, Scotland will need to find new revenue sectors. They can't rely on RBS returning to the size and profitability it was.

They need a wider range of high quality jobs, and more of them outside a PS being squeezed hard.

If you are being subbed by Westminster, the timeline is a little more relaxed, of course.

I don't think any of you are quite getting the point yet. This Brexit thing is going really badly and there's little time left to rectify things. Should the UK leave without a deal and even a quarter of the horror stories about food prices, farmers and manufacturing going to the wall, medicines, NHS staff shortages etc etc even look vaguely possible in the near future..... Scotland having another vote to leave the UK won't be about oil, RBS or Westminster subs. It'll be purely about damage limitation. No one will give a toss about RBS when milk or meat prices go sky high, the local radiology dept has to shut down ( Euratom ) and no one can fly in or out of the EU.

I hope Davis is negotiating hard, because telling the EU to whistle for their money isn't going to avoid the above.

Is there anything which Brexit isn't getting blamed for? ;)
