Very obvious, but not physically dark enough for the IPL treatment.
I have to admit I didn't know what ipl was earlier when you mentioned it earlier so I googled it. It came up with India Premier League cricket. I'm glad I realise now what you are discussing :rotfl:0 -

Intense Pulsed Light.
Slightly less intense than a laser, it burns the hair (if it's dark enough) as it sits in the follicle, causing the root to die off.
Repeated treatments can result in the marked reduction in hair growth with fewer and finer hairs.
It's not permanent, but it reduces hair growth and it's far less painful than electrolysis (sticking a fine needle into each individual follicle and cauterising it), threading (gathering multiple hairs in a twisted thread and ripping them out by pulling the thread away suddenly), waxing (sticky wax applied to the hairy skin, a cloth pressed into the wax and then pulled away suddenly) or tweezing (pulling individual hairs out with tweezers).
I am allergic to thioglycolate hair removal creams and gels like Nair, so I'm stuck with shaving. Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -
Threading's not as painful as I thought it would be to be fair...

Gingernutty my daughter has those pads like fine sandpaper that rubs the hair off. I've seen them at Superdrug, might they be of use?0

Sorry dandy-candy, my skin's too sensitive
The sandpaper rubs the hair away, but also takes off the upper layers of the skin. Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -
Hello all and WELL DONE MU! Sorry to hear about IPL. I've got a very hairy friend, and actually I always think it looks rather attractive. She carries it off, somehow, and makes it look sexy! (She's just fuzzy all over, with real sideburns.)
Dandy - good luck with your son's LL. He's doing a really great thing, challenging housing standards like this!
A quick note for everyone, and especially for WaS - it's national sloth appreciation day today! https://www.rd.com/culture/cute-sloth-pictures/Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -
Awwwwwwwwwwwww:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0

WaS, if you're hovering, it's INTERNATIONAL SLOTH DAY!
(Edit..... post crossed with JM's!)
(All the following info is courtesy if Alfieblue on the Alphabetty thread.)
:staradmin The History of International Sloth Day
International Sloth Day was created by AIUNAU, a non-profit
foundation dedicated to protecting all forms of wildlife.
The AIUNAU members in Columbia have been working with sloths
since 1996, as they became appalled to find out how many sloths
every year were being killed by cars or power lines, and how many
other were being captured to be made into household pets.
Once they rescue a sloth, they nurse it back to health, and then
proceed to release it back into the wild, where it belongs.
International Sloth Day was established in November 2010 as a
way of helping people get to know a little more about these shy,
quiet creatures that are known for their tenderness for one
another and keep them from going entirely extinct, as several
species of sloth have already.

AIUNAU is a non-profit foundation born from the need to
contribute to the protection of wildlife, in particular Xenarthra. We
adopt the principles of the compassionate conservation, where
conservation biology and animal welfare support each other, where
every individual counts.
The work with sloths, sweet and charismatic animals, was
developed since 1996 through the actions developed by the project
Unau and the foundation Unau. Foundation Unau becomes AIUNAU
in 2010, with the same commitment to conservation and wildlife.
We extended our experience to other endangered/threatened
taxonomical groups, such as felines and primates, wishing to
contribute to the conservation of confiscated animals that have no
specific destination.
We rehabilitate wild animals that are the victims of illegal traffic,
mistreated and/or injured. Our final goal is reintroduction of the
rehabilitated animals to their natural habitat.
Our working tools are: rehabilitation, research in natural and social
sciences, medicine, public awareness, education and variety of the
activities with the communities.
