What could you have done in that amount of time that they even need to check?!

I'm just worried that includes references, because I haven't mentioned it to my current manager.

You'd like to think that if they did want a reference from current employer it would only be after you had a firm offer in your hand - and certainly not without your permission.

If they want more than one reference surely the other one would be from the old company anyway?! But then, there isn't always a huge amount of logic within HR.

It's definitely a case of following procedure even if it doesn't make any sense. I think they're secretly robots.

  • Aw, big hugs, tea. That is really frustrating!

Also frustrating for you, code. They need to hurry up!

I have some good news for once, Millefleur is absolutely blossoming in her care home! She even sounds different on the phone, she is laughing and making jokes and is far more upbeat. They have got her knitting again, she used to knit all the time. Obviously being almost blind she can only go by touch and not follow patterns but she is making squares to turn into blankets for premature babies and thoroughly enjoying it. She is in the bar most nights with her friends, she goes out to afternoon tea twice a week and they have all sorts of entertainment coming in to perform. She is happier than she has been in years which is such a relief.

  • Oh WaS that has made me smile so much! Milliefleur sounds like a little sweetie and I am glad she is happy :)

I would definitely move in there!

Have done my usual 'cheer me up' technique of eating my body weight in carbs.
  • I hate my job. It's only temporary but it is dreadful

Constant flicking between screens and paperwork piling up with no idea what to do with it.

The lady who's meant to show me has been struggling with a bad cold which has become a chest infection which has required rounds of antibiotics and her illness has been compounded by violent reactions to the antibiotics and D&V bugs which are doing the rounds.

I'm in, she's off, I'm in, she's off. Round and round we go. We've met about four times in three weeks.

Today was the start of the first week when I'm working 5 days and 30 hours.

Nope. She was in for just long enough to be sent home again.

I have no idea what I'm doing except what I'm told to do. I'm reacting the whole time and never getting out from under this tsunami of 'stuff' associated with complex child health needs.

Sick Lady is meant to show me but it's not happening. It's the fourth week. It should be simple admin, data entry and filing and it is. If I knew how the team worked, what they did and where stuff is stored.

Tomorrow, I'm bringing my GCSE Maths stuff so I can take it to the library and catch up with that.
 Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway...

    Bear with it gingernutty.

We spent all morning making cakes for family for Valentine's Day (weird tradition). Of course, it went really well. Except now - the cellophane I ordered off amazon that was supposed to arrive today hasn't. Hopefully it will arrive first thing tomorrow. What a pain, but not that significant in the overall state of the world!

Littlewing suddenly perked up this evening and has been giggling a lot.
:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.
