Not a new year resolution as such, because I tend to work on the basis that if you want to do something badly enough you'll do it regardless of time of year. Plus calling it a resolution sets up all sorts of expectations that I'd rather not pile onto myself.

Having said that, the pile of trousers I can no longer get into is expanding along with my waistline. My weight hasn't changed much but my shape certainly has. I can no longer use the knee injury as an excuse to not do anything. So I'm going to try to work out some sort of routine to get back to slightly more in shape than I am now. Nothing ferocious or unmaneageable, a bit of core strength while I try to motivate myself back into a swimming pool as anything high impact is off the cards.
I'm not optimistic as to how far I'll get, given that I've been very bad at doing the short physio exercises since I was given them, but I have to do something.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Tea, I know what you mean about the job. I've been feeling back to work dread since I left the building last week. Also excellent news on getting the key back but I second what Izzy said about copies.

New years resolutions rarely work for me and I'd rather not start he healthy eating until I'm back at work, but I would like to be a bit more tidy in the new year. My house generally looks like a tornado has been through it.

Also, is there a finer WaSmas food than pigs in blankets.

I've always failed at new year resolutions so stopped bothering. As Elsien said, if I want it enough I'll manage it whenever I start so there's no real need to put the pressure of a resolution on it.

That said, I really need to start eating healthily. All of my summer clothes are way too small and I need to be at a size I'm happy with (well, ish. I don't think I'll ever reach a stage where I don't see room for improvement...) by May/June but there's pretty much no point in trying to diet over Christmas so I will start in January.

I also need to start being a bit better with money as we've got a lot going on in 2017 and some of it's quite expensive.

Mmmmm, pigs in blankets (or quorn in quilts if you prefer).

Tea, that's good news about your keys. Not wishing to be a negative worry-wort, there's no chance he would've made a copy before giving them back is there?
I was worrying about that, too.

It might be an idea to change the lock anyway, Tea, just in case.

Anyone got any new year resolutions?

    Nah.

Lambyr, what is the etiquette for same-sex marriages? Are you wife and wife? I assume so, but just checking!

There was some....ahem.... subterfuge with the key return. Am confident they haven't been copied :)

    I had no idea! :rotfl:

So I've looked into it... and it seems it's pretty much a choice dependent on the people involved. Many lesbians prefer "spouse" or "partner" to wife.

Apparently some who are involved in relationships where one party does not identify as feminine use "husband" or "hersband" (heh).

Both E and I are feminine (although I suppose I am a tad on the tomboyish side), so I'll stick with us both being wife and wife.

Well, in the style of Mapp and Lucia, you could each be the other's 'inamorata' instead!

I can't remember if I updated actually. I didn't get it :( Not surprising really since I rambled like the village idiot. At least I won't have the massive commute or need to make a decision. Waiting for the old place to invite me to interview, but they don't do anything quickly.

Everywhere around here are taking their decorations down. I refuse until after new year.

Sorry to hear that code.... onwards and upwards (or other cliche of your choice)

I have a similar dilemma about the job I saw the other day. It's a lot less money (a LOT less), it's easily as far a commute as currently.....But for some reason the one thing really worrying me is that I don't think there's any parking there. I could cope with an income drop, but not if I had to spend loads on parking. I'll probably apply anyway as it gives me more time to think....Just a shame that the one thing I really like the look of couldn't be closer to home (and more money!)

Feel literally sick at the thought of going back to current job next week.

Apply for it anyway tea. At least you'll feel like you're doing something.

I also feel sick at the thought of going back to work. I am willing time to stop. It's amazing the toll that having a job I actively hate has had on my MH. In 3 months I've gone from being borderline neurotic to the lowest I've been since my teen years. I am starting to worry about my sanity.
