Just hopeless! Turns out it was actually fixed hours ago but they only told about 4 people (there are honestly about 400 affected by this). It wasn't the sort of fault you could tell had been fixed without them sending you a new link, so we've all wasted an entire morning because they didn't think to contact anyone.
  • OK, that is hopeless. No excuse for that :(

I am here on my own. My day is going well now I have hot chocolate, and feel-good Xmas music. I got a lift in so didn't have to pay a bus fare and got a present to include for my mum given to me.

  • Whitewing, that sounds like an ace kind of a day :)

I had a toastie and a cheeky pint for lunch ;)

Sounds like a good lunch hbs. I had a quesadilla.

Ww - your day sounds good.

Job whining - ignore if you're bored with it.

I am not having a great day. Don't know if it's cause I'm in pain or just that I've had enough but I came close to a meltdown in the office. Not an emotional crying meltdown but a massive angry, scorched earth, throwing my laptop across the room and telling them where to stick their boring job meltdown.

Going back to my question a few weeks ago about whether anxiety makes it difficult to distinguish intuition from fear, I'm pretty sure I shouldn't have taken this job. I never was excited about it, I probably wouldn't even have applied for it, of the agency hadn't put it forward. I was nervous for the interview, but afterwards I thought 'crap that went well' and it was a negative thought. When I found out I got the job I wasn't excited or happy either. I actually felt pushed into it, but I just decided I was scared and ignored the warning signs.

I'm contrasting that with the way I felt when I saw the job with the massive commute that I was actually excited about. I mean, I probably won't even get an interview, but the fact that I'd rather commute 3 hours each day than stay where I am now speaks volumes.

It sounds like you do have pretty good instincts then code, you just had a panic about trusting them (perfectly understandable). So your current job has given you a good lesson in trusting your intuition, and lots of valuable experience in terms of interview technique, just generally being the new person etc. All of which means that when you move to the next (brilliant!) job, it will all be great :)

I realise that yet again this sounds patronising and it's really not meant to. I just mean that this experience, overall, will have some good points - it's just that they weren't the ones you were looking for (ie. a better job).

I am genuinely job-hunting right this minute. Just not the right time of year for it though really.

Absolutely tea. I've learned a lot about what my priorities are and what I want to do. And you're right about trusting my instincts - I shouldn't let myself be pushed into accepting jobs that I'm not sure about.

I know what you mean about it being the wrong time of year :(

It's very brave to try something, and even braver to know that it isn't for you.

Honestly, it just feels like a massive career-ruining failure at the moment. Still, I'm resigned to nothing happening in the near future., unless they fire me, because I am finding it difficult to hide my disinterest.
