Hopefully the kalms will work. I think that there are some prospective employers who would be put off by how recently you've changed jobs but there are others who won't mind. If it will make you feel better that you're doing something then apply for jobs, only if not getting interviews won't make you feel worse though.
Penguin reply I have never heard the phrase "Devil's lettuce" before and if it hadn't had some context to it wouldn't have had the vaguest clue what you meant!!
I am so tired today that I could happily curl up in a ball in the corner and sob for the rest of the day. Between my neighbours talking outside at stupid hours and IzHe getting annoyed with me for being upset by it (he thinks they're doing nothing wrong as they're just sitting in their garden talking, rather than playing loud music and stuff, and I think they're inconsiderate *insert-profanity-of-choice-here*s for talking at a volume which I can hear above the telly at gone midnight) I've had not a lot of sleep and am an emotional wreck. IzHe did apologise for being grumpy last night but it's taking me a lot of effort not to worry that he's going to get so sick of me that he's going to leave and I'm really annoyed with myself for getting so wound up that I ended up walking to the shops at half 1 this morning to get fags. It's nearly 2 years since I gave up smoking and I didn't even particularly enjoy them, it was just the only thing I could think of that had a chance of calming me down enough that I had a chance of getting to sleep, short of drinking a bottle of vodka that is...0 -
I'd never heard of that phrase either, code/Izzy. That's my new thing learnt for today, then.
I want to go shopping. Mainly as I am tied to work today as having a visit from an important worky person today. No problem with the person - they are the smiley sort who encourages rather than kicks a**. So I won't need to be stubborn.
Still it's GBBO to look forward to later.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
Code, I had to google your penguin!
Never heard it called that before! :rotfl:
It might, as Izzie says, look bad to apply for other jobs now. It's a tricky one.
It would depend what reasons you could give for wanting to change again so soon. Some reasons might be quite valid, whereas others might not present you in a good light. Difficult.
You could always just look around and see what's out there. If something looks very attractive, you could go for it and see what happens, I suppose.
What are the main probs with the new place? Is it mainly the aircon thing, or are there other serious problems too?
I think it might be important to differentiate between problems with the job that are your personal feelings about something, and problems with the job that are more to do with the actual work, work set-up, work ethos, etc. IYSWIM.
Probably not explaining what I mean very well.(I just lurve spiders!)

Thing is, I haven't been here that long so it doesn't need to go on my cv. If they ask, I can just say that I took a job that didn't work out. It happens. It's not just the air con really. I find the work really boring and I don't fit in with corporate culture (this place is very full of people who use nonsense business speak and like meetings and I hate all that) and more importantly, I don't want to. I was told there'd be more of a development aspect to it, which there's not, and that I'd get to work with new products, which I don't. There's nothing fundamentally wrong with the job or company, but I think it's possibly a mismatch with my personality. I think it's more important to me than I thought to do something that makes a difference in the world rather than just purely for profit. Obviously I'd need to learn to phrase it a bit better though. I'm really trying to give it time (I know it doesn't seem like it, but I am).
Pyxis - I didn't watch the corset video because I already know how to put one on, but did it mention you will need to tighten it after half an hour?
Izzy - can you do anything to noise proof your bedroom a bit? Heavy curtains might help a bit or earplugs? Maybe in winter they'll sit out there less. Don't worry about Izhe. I'm sure he's grumpy sometimes.
I'll just be over here teaching dodgy terminology should anyone need a lesson.Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0 -
New terminology for me as well, (penguin for terminology :rotfl: ) I most often read "420" references in that context. Never appealled to me, I was one of the odd ones out at university that would rather have a cup of tea.
Sorry the job isn't working out, I think the probation period (or whatever they call it) at the start is as much for you to see if you like it as for them to see if they like you, so moving on after a short while is not wildly unreasonable. I'm not an HR person though so probably not best placed to comment.

Ono - that's a good point about the probation period.
As much as it ends up sounding like corporate waffle, "It wasn't enough of a challenge" is a very valid reason for looking for a new job and hopefully something which employers would be happy with. I think the biggest problem you're likely to have though is that there aren't many companies who are brutally honest about what it's like to work there so what you're told in the interview and the reality are always going to be a fair distance apart so you might end up moving only to be in exactly the same situation.
I think the biggest problem with the noise from our neighbours is that we've got air vents in our bedroom wall which face out towards their garden. There's no way to block them off/cover them up so I'll have to try putting my ipod on when they're next disturbing me.
IzHe's been lovely today, I'm just the kind of person who worries after any kind of argument so, even though I know that I'm being slightly ridiculous, I have to give myself a bit of a talking to not to think that everyone hates me.0 -
Code, no, it didn't mention that, so thanks for the tip!
I'm going to have a practice later when the wretched re-delivery has been! It 's scheduled for 45 mins time, and there is a big sign on the door saying I AM IN!
I was hoping to have a free afternoon today for corset practice, but it looks like I may have to go out this arvo to sort out a problem that can't wait. Grrrrrr.
Soooo cross about yesterday as the delivery would have been around 10am, then the corset came at 11'ish, and I could have sorted it all yesterday!
The funny thing was that a month ago I did a big praise for DPD on the Praise, Vents and Warnings board! Hahahahahaha!
Ono, that's a good point about probation periods. :T
Izzy, that's a good point about not enough of a challenge! :T
I do hope WaS is ok.
Lambyr, how's the working from home going?
Did you know, there are about half a dozen people on here who, on the face of it, could run a stonking company all together!(I just lurve spiders!)

Phew! The,harem pants have arrived!
This time, funnily enough, saw on the tracking thing that it said 15 minutes, and he came within the next 2 or 3mins!
They were pretty cheap, 8.99 each. They have sort of floaty outer layers all the way round, but there are two 'tubes' for you to put your legs through!
They were one size; the waist band is very elasticated, and the rest is very loose. They're nice!
I got one pair in a dark red, which goes nicely with the corset, and another pair in black, partly in case the dark red didn't go with the corset, but also because black will go with anything else I want to wear with them!
Now I want to practice with the corset, but I might have to go out to sort out this problem, so I daren't start contorting into the corset only to get an email telling me to go to the problem!
If I manage to get into it all, I'll put the wig on too and take a faceless pic! Hahahahahahaha!
Some people are going to get a big surprise at the do! :rotfl: They've only ever seen me in sloppy old tat, and no makeup, let alone in a steampunk corset, red wig, maroon lipstick and stick-on maroon fingernails! Hahahahahahaha!
Reminds me of the time I went to an Early Music weekend. Baroque and earlier. Now, the majority of the people there were retired Middle England types, nowt wrong with that, 'cos I suppose I am too, except that this MiddleEnglander had multicoloured hair and clothes that your average MiddleEnglander wouldn't wear unless they were rather eccentric! :rotfl:
Anyway, at one of the dinners, I got talking to a lady and her husband at the same table as me, and it turned out we were both great afficionados of the same musicians and their type of early music. She sounded pleased but very surprised, and I know she had been led astray by my hair, and had probably originally thought I was an anarchist! :rotfl: (The hair's not all that way out, honestly!)
Anyway, she more or less said that one shouldn't judge on appearances, in better words than that, but I knew what she meant!
I restrained myself from saying that one also shouldn't assume that just because one meets someone with coiffured hair and tweed skirts, that they will be a boring old fart! (Because, so very often, they aren't!). But being a Laydee, I didn't! I just smiled inwardly, and thought I'd done my bit for breaking down the presumption barriers!(I just lurve spiders!)

It's the industry-standard screenwriting software. Obviously though, being the industry-standard makes it expensive! I can score a discount being an Open University student, and there's 30% extra on-top off until the 31st so I am currently tempted.
Have used free, or freeish variations before, such as Trelby or Scrivener but while they assist with proper formatting, they don't have all the analytical tools, storyboarding/planning and what have you of Final Draft. They also tend to get a bit narky when trying to do things like dual-dialogue (two characters speaking at once).
Thought process is this - I want to be a writer. Now, if I'm brutally honest, I prefer film and television to books and so it stands to reason I want to write for film and television. I can, and will, still write my novels but passion leans towards performance. This bit isn't intended to be an anti-Brexit rant, but there's also the fact that with leaving the EU, opportunities for completely unheard of, unproven writers will become scarcer in the UK. The situation wasn't great before the whole Brexit thing anyway so there's nothing to get overly annoyed about there, but it's just going to be tougher now. And getting an agent and moving to LA isn't really on the cards! :rotfl:
Besides which, I've been to LA and... ugh, yuck.
So... if I want to do it, then it's going to be a slog and having the right, professional tool to do it will probably be a step up, or at least one in the right direction. It could all amount to nothing and I end up wasting my money but I have ideas, and FD10 will make it easier to arrange those ideas in the right way.
I'd go for it, with those discounts.
Plus, if you need it for work you could put it through your accounts as a expense and get tax relief on it too.(I just lurve spiders!)
