Yes, WaS, glad you busy and not unwell!
It's amazing how knowing you are not alone can be sooooooo helpful! It also confirms the hereditary aspect of your problems, so it's NOT YOUR FAULT!
JM Thanks for the info of Safe Space. I had never heard of that, and it all makes perfect sense.(I just lurve spiders!)

Thank you JM and Pyxis, it has changed the view of what happened to me and my mental health problems quite a lot. It wasn't just my close family, there were problems resulting in people being locked away for life for literally hundreds of years. There were also some horrid things that people were imprisoned for and children were removed from their parents. It's a strange feeling to have proof that all the way back then some of my family members were just perpetuating their own experiences onto the next generation, as my close family did with me.
It is quite freeing in a way, there is no way I can blame myself because this was going on before my even my great grandmother was born. People were arrested and imprisoned yet still it continued with the next generation. I do feel proud that it stopped with me, I am the last of my specific line but at least I got it right. As for my mental health, my relatives were being locked away for hearing voices and hysteria over 100 years ago, there is a big genetic element there.
I am really glad that I am doing this, it is helping me put far more to rest than I ever hoped it would.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

That's fascinating WaS (ok, that's probably not the right word for something so awful that's affected so many lives, but I'm sure you'll get what I mean).
I genuinely think you should get some sort of medal for being so self-aware. That sounds shockingly patronising (not meant in that way!) It's just that you've been so strong to a) cope with what you have, b) realise that none of this is at all your fault, and c) make sure that you've done everything possible to stop the cycle continuing.
You, lady..... rock.0 -

That's fantastic to hear. It sounds like it's fascinating anyway but it's so lovely that it's helping you with realising that it's not your fault :j0 -

4 days to Poldark Day! :j
I am SOOOOOOOOO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!
One of the best things about Poldark is that it reminds me to dig out the being human boxset (yet again) and watch it all again.
In other TV news, it's only the thought of Bake Off this evening that is keeping me even slightly sane. Am having a V Bad Day workwise and it's only going to get worse. A big project I've been running launches tomorrow and all the problems are starting to tumble out. I don't think there's anything I wasn't expecting so far, but it's still a gigantic pain in the backside.
Annoyingly, I forgot to buy a cake at lunchtime so I'm not even prepared for this evening :rotfl:.0 -
Hope the day gets better tea, you need to grab a cake on your way home!
Thank you both for being so lovely, I have wanted to trace my family for years but I was always scared of what I'd find. It is as bad as I suspected it might be but so far it isn't upsetting me other than I feel sad that my relatives went through so much when there was much less support available. In fact many children were removed from parents only to show up living back with them 10 years later.
I was very lucky to get the support I did, 150 years ago there was no therapy, no one for them to talk it through with and they were often placed miles from home with people they had never met. Suddenly my life doesn't seem so bad at all, my past was difficult but they suffered so much more and it's no wonder so many had mental health problems.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

I tried to watch Poldark and I really couldn't get into it. I might have to watch Being Human again though.
I'm a day behind, I thought Bake Off was tomorrow!! I should have dinner ready by then but I must check that I've got it set to record.0 -
.
STOP TALKING ABOUT CAKE!
I did my very, very first proper 5:2 fast day yesterday, for the first time in a few months, due to not being well, so it's very early days for me to be out of the gorge/guzzle habit!
(I'd had a few half-hearted attempts before but gave in by the evening, so I'm really pleased I managed it.
I want to do another one tomorrow, so the C-word is banned!
(The Ca-word as well as the Ch-word! :rotfl:)(I just lurve spiders!)
