We've been out at family's, burning confidential waste and then watching Snow White. (Is it my imagination or does Snow White have an amorphous face?)
WaS, glad the laptop issue is sorted. I tried and failed to think of a solution. Hope the burns are receiving medical treatment.
calley, you have no idea how much it heartens me to read that someone has had a good life for most of it. So please don't ever think that is a reason for not being on this thread. I need to know what things are 'usual'. In any case, you are feeling rough right now and we want to be here for you too.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Confession time....
I stopped going to my counselling sessions. Like, just didn't turn up, didn't cancel our anything and have avoided her calls.
I feel so guilty as someone else could have used my space.
It was starting to work on reducing my anxiety and I panicked.
I worried that if I was less anxious I wouldn't be so alert in keeping Escapette safe, which is daft because I know that isn't the case at all.
I got anxious about not being anxious!
Now I think I've shot myself in the foot as they'll not want to offer me any other treatment, but then would I even complete any other treatment anyway if I panic when it starts to work?0 -
Welly, could you write to the counsellor explaining just what you've said here? I'm sure she'll understand and will be able to help. :A(I just lurve spiders!)

welly,
I am certain that your counsellor will have had many clients who have skipped sessions. I am pretty sure I did. What great feedback though: it was starting to work!
You will keep escapette safe if you are less anxious. It's called 'relaxed awareness'. It is trusting your reptilian brain to do what it has been primed to do for many thousands of years.
You will also help escapette be less anxious herself, as she will model your behaviour.
Put on those big girl pants of yours tomorrow and phone the counsellor and just see what happens. (Don't be like me and try to pre-empt every possible response the counsellor could have. You even have our permission to simply hang up if it gets too difficult. I wouldn't normally say to do that but again I think the counsellor would understand anyway, and we certainly would).:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. This was a good word connection......
What do the words lettuce and galaxy have in common?
It's milk!
Truly!
Here's the etymology:
Galaxy...from the French galaxie.....from late Latin galaxias.....from Latin circulus lacteas (milky circle; the circulus part got dropped!)....from Greek galaxias kyklos (milky circle).......from GALA (genitive: galaktos) meaning milk!
Lettuce.....from the Old French for lettuce laitues.....from the Latin for lettuce lactuca.......from the Latin lac (genitive lactis) for milk! It referred to the milky-looking sap from a cut stem.
I love these connections!
(By the way, in case you're wondering if the Greek word for milk, gala, has a connection with our modern word, gala, it doesn't! It has a separate derivation from the Italian vestito di gala meaning a robe of state, which probably derived from the Arabic khil'a meaning a fine robe given as a presentation. Thrilling!)
(?Don't get me started on 'thrill'; did you know it has a link to the words nostril and drill?.......................)(I just lurve spiders!)

Welly - you've explained that really well in your post. Are you able to email your counsellor?
Having another panic week - somehow the week of v early starts, lots of travel, LOTS of scary work stuff and loads to sort outside of work have managed to coincide with PMT. Send chocolate. Quickly.0 -
