Morning All,
It's funny how different people are with having/not having a telly in the bedroom. I've got friends where one needs noise and the other needs silence to sleep, which can make life difficult, but I'm fortunate that OH and I both need noise to sleep so tend to drift off to boring documentaries.
Can I please join the tired club? I think it's probably because my OH's mum is coming up this weekend and we've got my parents and auntie joining us for a barbecue on Saturday but I have an overwhelming need to get the flat and garden properly clean. Between that and the fact that I'd promised to make OH a lasagne, I haven't been in bed before midnight and I still have loads I need to do tonight (including making a cake for mother-out-law) so it will probably be another late one. Oh well, at least it stops me sitting on my bum, eating chocolate and feeling sorry for myself
Georgie - It's understandable that D would be worried about you paragliding and unless it's something you really, really want to do and you can find a way to reassure him it's probably best to give it a miss. Hopefully once they've seen your uncle do it, and he tells them how amazing it was, your mum and D will soften a bit towards the idea.
WW - It must be horrible to see Littlewing upset about things at school but I'm sure she'll be fine, kids seem to be a lot more resilient about those kind of things than adults are.
I hope you manage to get some kind of rota sorted for ER, it's lovely that you're doing what you are but you need to make sure you're taking care of yourself to.
MU - :T:T Well done on the mystery shopper score - remind yourself of it if you're ever having a work wobble.
SDW - Good luck with your and your husband's family research. It all sounds very interesting.
Calley - Sorry you had a rubbish night's sleep but well done for being up and out early anyway. Enjoy your lunch with lego man. Is it today that you're giving him free reign of your house while you take husband to his appointment?
On a slightly different note, having noticed how many times I've typed it in this post, I really must think of something to call OH other than 'OH'0 -

Izzy, the claim I keep reading is about blue light effects sleep patterns. And that includes, Tv's, Laptops, tablets, phones etc

Ooh I like the look of that gold medal!
I can safely say that I would not be getting one from work today - it is taking all my restraint not to send shouty capital emails.0 -

Just couldn't settle, think we need a new mattress through. Been saying that for ages, but there's so many to choose from that I wouldn't know where to start!
When we were getting a bed for the spare room I went to Argos and picked whatever was half-price and had good reviews and it's one of the comfiest mattresses I've ever had, I think I actually prefer it to the one on our bed.Izzy, the claim I keep reading is about blue light effects sleep patterns. And that includes, Tv's, Laptops, tablets, phones etc
I'd read that as well so tried to stay clear of all of those things for a while before going to bed but it actually made my sleep patterns worse. As much as I know it's probably not good for me I think I've spent so long using a TV to lull me to sleep that it feels too odd to be without it.0 -
Aha sleep! I can do sleep (sometimes)! I said a while back I have been working with a lovely professor from Oxford Uni sleep labs on improving my sleep? It's different in my case because they have to be very careful about psychosis occurring and the help given to me is specifically targeted at people who have night terrors and sleepwalk but the general things the sleep lab tell you to do can be found on their website. There is a lot of information that is totally free but if you do want to pay you can talk personally to their psychologists who will make up an individual plan for you and check in with you daily to see how it's going (its expensive but one to one help for a year). It's basically paying for private treatment, but it isn't necessary for most people who don't have specific sleep problems if you follow the free tips in the huge articles section.
It is all above board, run entirely by Oxford Uni and the professor who created it is lovely and specialises in sleep disorders. If you don't want to pay but have specific questions you can email them and they will try to help you without any fee, they are very approachable and friendly. I have never been charged because the professor finds me a challenge and he says it is good for him. :rotfl:

I need tea. Unfortunately the a- holes in one of the other offices have just told us that the kettle and fridge in the communal kitchen that we have been using for the last 12 months quite happily are not communal and we are not to use them again.
As the shared kitchen is tiny but is shared with about 15 offices, I'm not entirely sure how we're meant to get that number of fridges and kettles in there. I may have to join Tea in the stroppy email brigade.]
Which will be even stroppier due to my lack of caffeine.
WW - when my grandmother was in hospital long term I ended up visiting every other day. I explained how hard it was with work, life, dog etc to keep going every day and she was very good about it. She said it was nice to have visitors every day but that she understood that I had to look after myself as well.
I think the point is that if you become unwell you're not going to be able to visit anyway, so better to go slightly less and keep on an even keel if that's what you need to do rather than end up ill and not being able to go at all. It's all about balance and it's nothing to feel guilty about. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
Also worth remembering WW that you can review this on an ongoing basis, if the hospital stay is longer-term. It doesn't have to be a decision made today to say daily visits, or weekly visits, or anything else. You could say, ok today I can't make it, but then have daily visits for a few days, then a few days where you don't go at all, etc.
That is v badly worded but hopefully you get the gist! I think what I'm trying to say is you can play it by ear and change your mind daily depending on what else life has planned for that day.
And definitely speak to other family members if that's possible and get them pulling their weight.0
