Messed Up sorry you feel so awful, you're right about MH issues not taken seriously by employers re time off. I know someone locally who has just been told that they don't even have a date to be assessed by MH services, far less when they can begin getting any help.

I do understand that they can;t just give me a free pass as that wouldn't be fair to everyone else, but i;ve not been off in nearly 6 months now (and the last two ocassions were just normal illness not mH realated-which stuffed me as i'd had time off for the biplolar)and this isn;t a case of me not taking my meds, and i even worked through the past 2 months of horrendous depression, but right now, my body and mind needs time to adjust and i just feel like i need a bit of time off for that to happen. :( I think people forget that the brain is kind of one of the most important organs in the body that controls pretty much everything. And right now my brain chemistry is being affected and thats having a physical affect too.

Having goggled it, right to time off for appoibtments or changing meds could be consdered a reasonable adustment, i just hope work see it that way

Elsien don;t worry about it :)

I haven't been able to sleep for a couple of days.. I'm still so stunned and frightened :( Been trying to ring a helpline for hours but they are constantly engaged.. I just can't relax, I'm so adrenalised.
Many thanks to all who contribute on MSE :)

Faerie, I've been feeling like that. Part of the problem is being on one's own, both from the point of view of there not being anyone to be reassuring and to say " we'll get through this" etc., and also from not being able to talk it through and rationalise it.

Every problem, large or small, is magnified when you're on your own.
One of the reasons I'm on MSE so much is that it enables me to not feel quite so alone about certain fears. Sad, I know, but I admit it.

MessedUp, it might be a good idea to go in, explain that you'll try to work, but that you may be in slow motion, ask if you can stay away from hot machines, or maybe even do a back room job for a few days? If they then send you home, so be it.
Has your GP given you a timescale for the new meds settling down? If not, you could always ask the pharmacist....they are the drug experts, after all, and are much under-utilised.

Hahahahahahahahahah! At first I thought you'd bought them! :rotfl:

Shoes like that are works of art to look at, but if worn, inflict GBH, I kid you not!
They remind me of the Little Mermaid who, when walking on her land legs, could only walk on tiptoe with excruciating pain!
Shoe designers want to turn women into little mermaids! :rotfl:

When men say they like to see women wearing them, then they themselves should try wearing them!

As to which, it always amazes me that women are able to wear 'men's' clothes, but the reverse is frowned upon, although that premise is slowly breaking down.
Jeez, it wasn't that long ago, just in my grandmother's youth, that women could really only wear trousers in private, as they were thought weird and 'unnatural'! Which, when you look at what people have worn throughout the ages, is rather daft.
I have absolutely no problem with men wearing what others might see as 'women's' clothes. Actually, I quite like it, as it demonstrates an acknowledgement of, perhaps, all aspects of one's personality.......

If I want to be all soft and feminine and glamorous, I can dress accordingly in a long dress, jewellery and makeup and fluff up my hair; if I want to be tough and raunchy, I can wear jeans and boots and a leather bomber jacket and slick my hair back. Don't see why a guy can't do likewise! :)

Lambyr, I hope you're having a good time with E, and that she's able to reassure you on lots of things. :A:

    Morning Shipmates,

faerielight and pyxis when you feel like that give the Samaritans a call. They are not just there for the obvious its a free call 116 123. they will listen any time of day or night.

Spent half an hour in the garden and that was enough for me :rotfl:any way out the front, next doors honey suckle was all over my side. Cut it down and chucked it back on her side. Its the law and she does not like me and the feeling is mutual. Why should I get rid of her stuff for her.

Well as I have no other plans today, going to shower in a min and settle down to a day of netflix and cross stitching in the duvet fort. Any one who fancies joining me ( no I am not falling apart :rotfl:)is more than welcome. give me a nudge if I fall asleep and start snoring

    Yours

She's got her own problems so I'm not putting any of my stuff on her right now.

Due to the "uncertain economic climate" she's effectively been asked to nominate people in her team for possible redundancy.

Right so I've been having a think. Gonna try and be a little more positive (not about all the politics stuff, still all meh'd out about that) but about me and getting things done.

You'll have to excuse the rest of this post. It's not really productive or adding anything to the conversation but I'm trying to work things out and having something written down in a place where I could actually be held to account for it might actually be beneficial to me.

Currently I receive Carer's Allowance and Income Support.

The job I was offered is by no means guaranteed at this point but thinking positively if I get it, I can keep the Carer's Allowance as my added earnings will be less than £110 per week, to begin with at least.

I'll lose Income Support but I'll be about £200 per month better off and I'll be below the Income Tax threshold. Not wholly sure where I stand on National Insurance so will have to look into that...

CA is 61.35 per week with a £10 "bonus" once per year - so that's £3,200.20.

When the money from the job is added on, I'm just below the £8,060 per year NI threshold. And this isn't factoring in anything I could count as an expense. As far as I know, I'd be taken on as a self-employed contractor. Would have to clarify.

So I'll have to look into whether my NI credits from CA are still valid here. So that goes on the to-do list.

The job is the best hope I've got right now of a guaranteed income long-term. If the business is successful, my income will increase. If it's not I'll be back where I started but taking the job doesn't actually lose me anything right now, since if it doesn't work out I can go back and claim IS.

For practicalities sake, I have a six-hour period per day when I can get things done. This is dependent on my mother being a little considerate towards me (not getting up at 5am...), but between 12 and 6, aside from drinks, a light lunch, and occasional help moving about she's generally settled.

So I need to plan my time... obviously Euros are still on but they're finished in a couple of weeks and then there's nothing really holding my attention during the summer.

Monday - Queue up social media posts for my own feeds, and if the job happens, E's dads business. Will probably take a couple of hours if I use a social media management tool. Break for lunch. Use rest of the day to work on the copy he needs.

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday - Work on my writing. Try and write a chapter per day on my novel(s), and then leave some time each day to do some editing/revisions and all of that.

Friday - Work on E's dads copy and other things he needs. Write up some blog posts for my own site and queue them up.

If I do that and stick to it, then maybe I'll actually have some sort of future. Writing books rarely makes you rich (although I am far more talented than EL James... haha!), but the stuff E's dad needs is pretty straightforward for me and won't be too time consuming. I might need to spend the odd Sunday on things in the early days, and I may need to factor in thirty minutes each day just to keep tabs on the social media side of things, but that's a doable plan.

So the next thing is find some people who are willing to hold me to account for some of this - make sure I'm actually sticking to my plan. Of course E's dad will. But the stuff where the only person I answer to is myself is another matter. I'm far too forgiving. :rotfl:

Yeah, she was a bit upset about that. She's a shift manager at a logistics company. She's been complaining for a while that she barely has enough staff as it is but now she's being expected to put people on some sort of list.

Doesn't mean any of them will be made redundant, and she did say that she'd have a chance to argue both her and their case but every shift manager is expected to put forth some names of people that if they had to lose some, they would be alright with losing them.

She really wasn't happy about it. So we broke out the alcohol and co-op'd our way through Halo to take her mind off it.
