I actually know the pirate thing because one of my nephews was obsessed by pirates, but I'll keep quiet in case someone else wants to hazard a guess.

While we're at it, time for my favourite pirate joke.

    Why are pirates pirates?

When you go to the GP, do tell, them about this. They may be able to do something, or get you a psychiatrist. Worth asking.

It's true that there are environmental factors, but those factors trigger changes in brain chemistry/neurology that lead to the MH issues. It does all boil down to physical changes.

Even personality differences probably stem from these tiny differences, too!

We're all just a chemical soup with some sparks thrown in!

Cream of vegetable or mulligatawny, anyone? :rotfl:
    I will do :)

Just stress i dont need right now, iver had the pass for 5 years, my old psych insisted on me getting it as she felt i was isolating myself and needed something to encourage me to get out more :o

In regards to to MH issues i think maybe i was genetically predisposed to it, and the stress/bullying is what set it off? I think tbh even if i hadnt had the bullying something else would have triggered it off.

Presumably it was where they kept their worldly wealth, then? Did they keep upgrading to a bigger, thicker gold earring?

Or, was gold thought to be a protection against syphilis? Or plague or something?

Penguin about depression and its impact.
Can't white out the link on my phone. Please don't read it if you're feeling in any way fragile. It contains references to suicide.

I wanted to share this because it's an incredibly powerful piece of writing that describes depression as it is.

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/health/3300771/I-told-myself-Get-over-yourself.-Stop-snivelling.-Stop-whining....html

Unfortunately the author has today lost her fight against her illness. But anyone who wants to understand more about depression and how it affects people should read her memoir, Shoot the Damn Dog, by Sally Brampton.
    Rest in peace.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

    Nope.

I guess that was a reason. But it was for a very specific reason.
