Sounds like a good solution georgie - pop along to the one you like the sound of, and just enjoy a non-sociable evening tonight. That school sounds amazing, I love things like that.
Ended up with a v late night last week as I thought I'd look at just one urban explorer video on youtube. Which of course turned into many hours of videos!0 -

We typically got six to a dozen people turn up, and people kept coming to them even long after they stopped playing - the last one was about four years ago, and it turned out only one person still had an active account in the game :rotfl: .
The guild I'm currently in has done meetups in the past but I dunno if they still do them... not like I'd be able to go to one if they did but it is kinda nice to see people becoming friends through a game.Georgiegirl256 wrote: »I've emailed him to say I'm not going tonight, not because I've chickened out (well maybe a little bit) but because I'm really not in the mood. I'm grumpy and hormonal and think I might just have worn my car horn out at the amount of IDIOTIC DRIVERS (that felt good lol!) about! So yeah, I'm really not feeling over social able tonight. Then I start thinking 'make the effort you lazy person', you'd enjoy it', and I know this to be true, but I think deep down today, I just cba.
There is one in a few weeks time that I'd like to go to. It's an old school (1583) which has just closed down last year, and it's a crying shame. Mr Bean even went there lol! Am I out geeking you all yet?(no, I think that would take quite a lot going by the talk up there....*runs and hides*
I missed your post earlier but what you say here makes sense. Better to go to one that you can get exciting about than going to one "just because" when you're not really feeling up for it.She would always like to say,
Why change the past when you can own this day?0 -
Georgie, could you not have another engagement that means you can only stay in the pub for one, until you're more comfortable with people? Maybe not tonight though if you have the rage.Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0

Those urban explorer videos are so interesting! I especially love the abandoned hospital ones, fascinating but creepy at the same time.
It's sad that the school had to close, with it's 400 years of history. I hope they don't turn it into flats like what they do with everything else round here. It would be nice to think it could reopen again in the future, but I can't see that being likely.0 -

Possibly not even remotely possible cos I don't really know how these things work but could anyone in the community perhaps organise a fundraising drive (maybe even use crowdfunding like GoFundMe) to purchase and restore it, maybe turn it into a museum? Or petition the local council or something, apply for lottery grant? Not really sure how these things work but it would be a shame to see something so old get knocked down particularly if it had community significance and if Mr Bean went there! She would always like to say,

Yeah I looked at a lot of hospital and asylum videos last week, then got completely hooked on theme parks. A couple of the theme parks were ones I'd been to as a child, so then I started watching random family videos of days out there in the 80s and 90s.... then I realised that the quick 5mins on youtube had turned into 4 hours :rotfl:0

Well that's what I was thinking, go to the ones I'm most interested in and where I think I'll get some good shots. It's still hard getting back into photography again, it was the first time I'd picked up a camera in about 15 months the other Saturday. But I know that nothing made my Dad happier than seeing me get enjoyment out of the same hobby he did since he was a lad.
The rage! That is so true! I'm thinking of starting a grump club, membership is either a family sized bag of Walkers balsamic crisps or a cadburys caramel. Leave them at the fort door. Thank you.
Good idea about maybe just going for one first code. Thing is, i do sort of "know" a few of them through my Dad, and tbh wasn't that keen, let's just say they like the sound of their own voices! However, there are a few nice ones too.0 -

There is a web page set up already, so I think somebody is trying something still.Yeah I looked at a lot of hospital and asylum videos last week, then got completely hooked on theme parks. I bet the theme park ones are abit eerie too? I'll have to check them out.0 -
Obviously I don't know the group, but it may be that it's not an 'all or nothing' situation anyway - as in, maybe you could end up joining them for the actual photography part but then swerving the pub bit, if that turns out to be less fun. There's a lot to be said for a strategically mentioned 'home commitment'
Or maybe just going to the pub every other time, or similar.
I'm rambling a bit, but I'm sure you get the gist lol.0 -
That's what I'll probably end up doing tea.0
