Andy Clarke has always lived in the clouds.

They need customers through the door to spend money not £100 fines for shopping at Asda.

Asda cannot keep blaming their own problem on competition

The local Asda in Bournemouth is located close to an area that can become a traffic bottleneck. There is a major traffic junction next to a busy travel interchange. The exit from the car park is onto a link road leading to a busy roundabout. if a lane gets blocked in that area, gridlock can result.

On occasions, shoppers can be stuck in that car park for over an hour trying to get out. Fell victim to that myself once.

Smart were in there with a 3 hour limit. If PE take over, then you can bet your bottom dollar that the maximum parking period will be reduced.

That is highly possible but how could ASDA increase profits with less shopping hours

PE would make very little money with a 3 hour limit. They will argue that 2 hours (maybe even less) is long enough to do a grocery shop.....

You may want to check the local planning applications; both Smart and PE have a tendency to forget to apply for both Advertising Consent and planning permission.

Given Asda's demise in the profits league, there's a real possibility that PE will generate (pro rata) far more profit than them on the back of penalising Asda customers, further ensuring those vital customers take their essential business elsewhere.

Let's be honest, if you were 'fined' £100 for giving Asda your business, would you ever, in your further life, buy another single button mushroom from them?

Smart have now been given the push at Marshall's Yard Gainsborough, after only being there for two months. We were there a couple of weeks ago and there were several Smart Parking goons milling around trying to sort out mistakes made by motorists on their over-complicated ticket machines. Lets hope they don't bring in Parking Eye instead.

The very definition of insanity is doing the same thing repeatedly (hiring different PPCs) and expecting a different result. :D

I have recently put asda head office on the spot regarding the changeover to PE and warned them that my 4 grand a year may go to rivals Morrissons who have no parking restrictions at my local supermarket (which is closer than asda)

they have been pondering it for days now, with a "trouble ticket" (reference or incident) issued too

todays headlines about a massive drop in sales wont help them if they think that penalising shoppers with £100 parking eye invoices is going to help win the shoppers back

perhaps new boy Sean Clarke may take note , unlike his predessor Andy Clarke

reply back from asda , suitably edited for internet anonymity

now PE are in force here is what they have said about disabled customers and the BB , which does nothing for those without a BB but there you go , half an answer , lol

didnt answer all I asked them either , but thats another convo
    Dear Sir,

Thank you for getting in touch regarding our new Car Park Operators.

I have contacted the Customer Service Team at the ######## store who have advised the rules for disabled customers will be the same as before.

In addition to this they have also advised that blue badge holders can get themselves added to an exemptions/white list which makes them exempt from the overstay limit. To do this please visit the Customer Service Desk with your blue badge and vehicle details.

I hope this information helps however if you should like help with anything else please contact myself or one of my colleagues on 0800 952 0101 and don't worry it's a freephone number.

    Kindest Regards,
