Perfect in every way so everyone else should be too?

My 2 year old ran straight into a door a few months ago - obviously it must have been my fault from your statement!

We're paying a small fotune for a nursery - self-appointed professionals - to keep her safe from avoidable harm. What's really got my goat is that the implausable narrative given. I'll get to the bottom of it soon but this thread is to let off steam more than anything. I am not interested in the services of amateurs pretending to be responsible adults

no problem at all in using this thread to let off steam, its your thread after all.

without knowing what actually happened and what injuries your daughter has following whatever happened at nursery, its hard for anyone here to answer your questions though.

Accidents can happen anywhere, even if children are supervised.

Most nursery workers are paid an absolute pittance. The owners are raking in the profits.

Unless you remove all your walls and furniture, the areas in your house that she has 'access' to are not hazard free. Children run into things, into other kids, fall over etc.

It's unreasonable to expect no accidents, as long as they're not in a dangerous environment and as long as staff act as quickly as they can.

Don't be too precious about it is my best advice. :)

    Lucky you.

I hope that statement does not come back to bite you.

IMO it is impossible to safeguard children 24/7 no matter how much you might try and I am one of those parents who never let my children out of my sight.

I dread to think what venting you're going to do when she goes to school! Accidents happen even with the best supervision.

You say you have thick carpet - so what happens when she runs across it falls over and ends up with carpet burn?

Without information about the accident in question, it's difficult to be anything other than skeptical about apportioning blame.

correction.. she hasn't had an accident under your supervision 'YET'!!!!!

My son at nearly 3 ran out of the toilet, tripped over his pants he had not pulled up and smashed his face on the door frame.. I'm assuming you have door frames? Of course these things happen 2 hours before the HV is due to turn up!

My grandaughter of 16 months is on her way to A&E having dropped the car seat on her foot..

My Middle son at 5 tripped and grazed his knee and ended up at A&E with a massive infection in the knee joint.

I (at 7) put my hand on a hot iron when I was old enough to know better.. I just wanted to know if it was really as hot as everyone said.. they are!!

I stood on glass wearing flipflops (at 11)

the council installed my central heating wrong resulting in my 3 month old having a burn from a radiator..

One of my girls was badly bitten and scratched on her face on her first day at nursery.

My youngest tripped as OH went to lift her in the bath and broke her nose on the bathroom door!

Life happens... How do children ever learn or experience anything if they are not allowed to test their boundaries?

You are looking after 1 child.. the nursery staff have up to 3 under 2 each.. if one has to go change a nappy or something that leaves the other with 5.. I challenge you to look after 3 on your own!!

And regardless of what you pay the staff are usually paid a total pittance.. My sister was one of those 'amateurs' after 4 years of college, ongoing training and experience of my lot!

Still you've not said what accident she has had for anyone to make an informed comment.

My HV thought my son should be sitting by himself at 8 months (he was 2 months prem!) and he fell on his face and got a carpet burn up his nose!

A child that grows up having no accidents has had no childhood.

It's all part of growing up!

What about controlled and appropriate risk? - a better way for kids to learn that trying to remove all hazards so they don't get the chance to learn to negotiate them safely.
