Hang on in there - it'll get easier once you get your own place.
I do hope you're right.
Happy Friday!!
Yesterday I played football with one of my colleagues and his group of friends. Frustratingly for me, I didn't give a very good account of myself but it was good fun nonetheless. By the time I got back to the hotel and ready for bed it was 11.30ish and I slept much better.
The plan was that I would start work early today in order to get away early, so I rocked up to work at 7am and nobody was in until now! So I got up and ready for no reason it appears. Furthermore, my Mum called to say that I might not be needed back in Scotland as some of the family will be around to my flat to help move everything out. I'm not due to get my keys to my new flat until tomorrow but I'll phone and ask if there's any chance I can get them tonight. If not, I'll buy a cheap hotel myself as I recon it'll be cheaper than the full tank of fuel it takes me to get up and down.
So there you have it. My current state of play. Must get on and figure it out.0 -
Good morning everyone,
I hope you all had a nice weekend.
Well, that's me now officially moved in! Friday night was my last night in the hotel and I got the keys to my new flat on Saturday morning. My mum and step-dad were traveling down in the early afternoon with a van full of my bellongings and so the majority of the day spent unpacking everything, I couldn't have it done it without them and the help of my step brother and gran. They all helped in packing things, wrapping it bubble wrap, moving it all and without them, I'd be in a real pickle.
The flat is looking really quite nice actually. So much so that my mum said she wouldn't mind living in it, which means a lot as she has very high standards. I've a couple of things left to buy but all in all, I'm ready to rock.
I decided to continue my tradition and normal routine by getting my weekly shop last night to find that the 24 hour Tesco was shut. Do all SM's shut on a Sunday night in England? Anyway, I'll need to go tonight as I have practically nothing in the flat.
I'm going to make soup for my lunches and a sausage and bean casserole for dinner.
Hope everyone stays warm and has a lovely Monday0 -
Yes. All big supermarkets close around 4 or 5pm in England. You'll find things like Tesco Express/Sainsbury's Local open til 11pm but obviously they're not the place to do a full shop.
And I agree with CCL about your change - its a big one and will take a little getting used to. Also, I disagree with TGFW, you absolutely are a family man - just not yet. It'll happen when it happens, I'm sure.LD 12.25 £1600.00/£0700.00 Fn £274.00 LTFn £525 LLTFn £300

Yeah it will Joey, and thanks for stopping by. I love my family time and I can't wait to start a family of my own, for the right person I would tomorrow! As you say, it'll happen soon enough.
Good morning everyone,
Given the Sunday SM shutout I went last night and got my things. Came home and made a casserole and soup, although the soup looks very...plain and basic. It'll save me from going out and spending £4-£7 on lunch though.
I've a few small errands I'd like to do today just to make sure I'm all up to date with things but aside from that, not much else. Need to sort a Christmas list for people and start thinking about dough too!0 -
Good that you're starting to find your way around, and cooking for yourself again. Now that you have some relatively free time and you're finding the money side of things a bit stretched, might it be time to revisit surveys - e-rewards, Prolific Academic etc are still worth doing. Might help swell the coffers a bit for Christmas.LD 12.25 £1600.00/£0700.00 Fn £274.00 LTFn £525 LLTFn £300

Congratulations on the new home Speky - I'm pleased that you love it because that will make things a million times easier to deal with as you're settling.
I'm afraid the larger shops have a 6 hour opening rule on a Sunday in England. Usually 10-4 for a supermarket...Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

Morning everyone,
Happy hump day
Yesterday was busy in work and productive afterwards. I phoned to organise a new phone as my contract was up plus my new work are paying for it. Unbelievably and completely confusingly, the new models with all the bells and whistles are cheaper than the others. I kept asking "what's the catch?" or "I must be missing something". But no, they (vodafone) want customers on the latest and greatest handsets, so make it more affordable. Seems strange but I'll take it. It's not often us MSE guy's come out on top in situations like that. Also, as my mate is in the police, I get a 15% discount too!!
I also had to pay my road tax, which for the car I got earlier this year is only £20 a year. Went to pay to notice my card was missing from my wallet. Instantly phoned the bank to cancel and order a new one. It fell out my jacket pocket this morning as I got up for the gym (!!!!!!).
Tonight I've no plans which means I'll probably stay late in work for a bit. Might go a run tonight if I can be bothered. More than likely take on Joeys suggestion though0 -
Good morning everyone,
A very frosting morning in Manchester.
I somehow managed to turn my alarm off this morning. Don't even remember it. It goes off at 5.30am and it's always a struggle to get up. Today I was having a dream about sitting an exam in high school that I hadn't studied for and then I sort of had this realisation that in real life, I felt unusually rested. So I bolted upright and turned to the bedside clock to see it read 7.10am. I would have put my mortgage on it that my alarm didn't go off!
Last night was quite busy and productive after work, with making dinner, tidying up and making calls. I recon I'll have much the same tonight, and even more impetus to go a run since I didn't make the gym this morning.
I also found out last night that I've somehow lost my newest and best winter jacket!! How is that even possible!! I fear I've left it at the hotel that I was staying in all of last week but I called and they said it wasn't there. After a process of elimination it can only be in the hotel or I've dropped it leaving the hotel to the car. I'm going to give them a visit this afternoon and ask in person. Raging though!!
My new bank card is due to arrive tomorrow or Monday. My new phone is set to arrive tomorrow too. So I should be ready to rock and roll. I do hope my card comes in on Friday as I'm wanting to make a start of Xmas shopping as I have bought absolutely nothing given all the upheaval of the last couple of months!
Right, best get cracking.0 -
Oh no - I hope that you get your jacket back...Not giving up

Congratulations on the move Speky. I have a friend who lives in Altrincham. I'm sure you'll feel settled soon - these things take time.
My colleagues and I are coming up to Manchester (from Stoke) next Saturday to hit the Christmas markets.
Hope you get your coat back, i hate losing things.0
