  • Hello Specky

I've been on holiday and couldn't post but I've been following you. You've done really well to sort things out over the last three years. You're an inspiration!

Glad your wee Gran is picking up. I think five weeks from going in to hospital and getting home is pretty good.

Still windy here, isn't it? I'm about to bite the bullet and make my way to the hairdresser.

    Have a good day.

Thank you for the kind words. I hope your holiday was nicer than what we're putting up with here!

It's still awfully dark in Glasgow. Looks like rain coming in over the Campsies.

Last night I darted home quickly as my new tenants/friends were coming over to take measurements. They seem really excited by it and she is buying nice furniture which gives me peace of mind that they'll take care of it. After they'd gone, I made dinner, watched the bake off and went to bed.

Been to the gym this morning and a busy day of work ahead. Tonight, I've a game of football in the diary but nothing else, so I should hopefully get to chill for a bit.

Need to phone my dentist here in Scotland and cancel my up and coming appointment given my move to Manchester. I'll find a GP/dentist/optician when I'm down there and settled.

    Payday tomorrow!!! :money:
  • Good morning chums,

Last night, as suspected was work > dinner > football > bed. Longer lie this morning as I didn't go to the gym since I'm working late tonight. So I'll be non-stop from now till 10pm.

With that in mind, it's a quick one from me. Hope everyone has a wonderful day :)
  • Good morning pals,

Relatively nice morning here in Glasgow. The occasional cloud covering a light blue sky.

Yesterday I didn't finish work till 11.40pm and I was starving, so I nipped into a 24hr Tesco on my way home. Skipped the gym this morning and opted for the extra 2 hours in bed instead.

I'll be leaving work early today to go home and pick up my mum for our trip to Manchester. We're staying in a cheap hotel tonight and then we have 8 or 9 house/flat viewings tomorrow. Really excited for it all and it's nice to spend some time with my mum too.

Won't be back till late on Saturday night, with no plans for the evening - or Sunday for that matter.

Right must dash and try to make the most of the half day.
  • Hope the Manchester visit goes well Speky. It's all really exciting - I think you're really brave going for such a massive change.

Hey Hope your visit to Manchester was productive.

We were there yesterday. Went in on the train and had a few drinks, meal and we were home for 9.30.

Looking forward to hearing all about it
  • Good morning my chums,

So my trip to Manchester was really good. My mum and I drove down on Friday afternoon to stay in a cheap hotel next to the airport. We arrived safe, in good time and were starving. We went to a local market but it was super busy so we jumped into a restaurant around the corner from my future work. It's a nice area so I'm glad my mum got to see it and would help give her peace of mind.

Saturday was busy with 8 different viewings booked, all back to back. We seen some absolute dives and others which were really nice. Needless to say, I'll be making some calls this morning regarding the nice ones. I've ran the maths and I can afford them, so it's all beginning to come together.

My Sunday was relaxed and I made the most of the extra hour by sleeping!!

This morning has been a nightmare though. I got up at 5.30 for the gym. Packed the car and drove into the city centre. As soon as I got there, I realised I'd left my work trousers and shirt. So I had to do an about turn. What a waste of time and petrol.

My front door then wouldn't close so I spent 30 minutes fixing that meaning that I'm now only just in work! Let's hope that the last of the mishaps for a Monday morning. Tonight I've got my usual Monday back to back games of football and chilli out defrosting for dinner.
  • Pleased to hear it went well Speky - and I hope that your day improved.
  • Morning everyone,

My god it's cold. I had to defrost the car this morning!

Last night, both of the pitches I played football on were frosty, which can make for an interesting game. I'll miss it when I head down to Manchester but hopefully I'll find something similair with my new work colleagues.

I got in touch with the letting agent yesterday about a particular flat that I liked and a few calls later and it's mine!!! The proposed move in date is the 10th of November but I'll push it back to the 17th to give me some time. Really looking forward to it all now.

    The costs for this move are mounting. Here is my current spend so far;
Changing my mortgage from residential to buy-to-let - £299 and £199 annually thereafter
    Registering as a landlord - £55
Admin fee to rent a new property - £235
Visiting Manchester to view properties costs (hotel, fuel. food etc) - £99

Still a lot more to add to this but I wanted to keep track for my own sake plus any others who read and are interested in doing something similar.

Tonight I have my Scottish letting agent coming to my flat to do an inspection and check what else is required before I hand the keys over to my new tenants. I hope that this will be relatively straightforward and inexpensive, but I have my doubts somehow. Once she's out the way, I'll be making my dinner (bunless bacon cheeseburger with steamed veg) and then over to my mates for a bit.

I'm off for another coffee to try and heat me up.
