I used to use my friends prime but we ended up buying it by accident (2 year old) for the second time :rotfl: and just kept it. It's paid for itself by now so I do like but probably going to cut it and start using my friends again when it's finished!
I cancelled my gym membership. Running is pretty much free, parkruns and JogScotland (£1 a go) and I use the joe wicks workouts from Youtube aswell! These days you rarely need one even if you wanted to work out!! :money:0 -
Frustrating visit to Aldi this morning:
Decided to go to one near rugby club so I could get it done while DS1 was training.
Dropped trolley token under car seat. Neither of us could get it out (although DS1 was in hysterics at my attempts):rotfl:
Never mind, I thought. My usual Aldi will happily give you a pound from the till. I'll do that.
Sat nav took me to wrong place. Luckily I knew where Aldi was even if their postcode didn't. Minor annoyance but only wasted a minute or two.
Car park rammed and very poorly designed.
Went in - asked bloke on till. He was immensely rude even though I pointed out they do it in the other branch and I wasn't just being a chancer.
Never mind, I said, I'll go to the cash point.
Cash point 1 broken.
Cash point 2 broken.
Met nice lady at both cash points and she said there's one in this bar.
Cash point 3 broken.
By this time I had told nice lady my story and she very kindly gave me an old pound coin she remembered she had in her purse :T
Got into Aldi. Hideously packed, badly stocked, horrible experience.
Halfway round see cash point.
Do shopping well within budget and only forget one thing. Phew.0 -

Thank you! A very spend day today so far. I needed new walking boots as my old ones died after 12 years hard service. Managed to get them for £39.99 and two pairs of hiking socks for £8. Got to the till and it rang through for £40 altogether so really pleased with that. I've got separate categories on YNAB for each family member's clothes and shoes.
We have a holiday tradition of new books that aren't allowed to be touched until we get there. My parents always did this and we've always continued it. It usually means an £80 spend but I went to a charity shop and got all 5 for £7.83. Ecstatic with that as I was worried I would have to break tradition but it's all budgeted for.
Filled up car with petrol at Mr T so Clubcard points for that and it's the cheapest one. Horribly stressful queuing system though!
Off to the in-laws for lunch now.0 -

Brilliant bargains! My mum used to do the same with me. I remember being in SO MUCH trouble one year when she'd bought me the new Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire - she found out I'd been sneaking out of bed at night and into my suitcase to read it - such a lovely tradition to have.Debt-free wannabe since Jan 2018.

Books are so expensive, great work on the charity shop finds! It is also worth looking at Amazon New & Used and Ebay for second hand books0

My mum works in a charity bookshop so I got them there. Her boss let me use her staff discount - felt momentarily guilty then remembered I have given them thousands of books over the last couple of years.
Had a spendy day but it felt much more comfortable. Only thing I hadnt budgeted for was optician - needed two things plus 3 months worth of underpayment on my standing order. I've got several problems with my eyes at the moment and 2 long term conditions so I'm happy to pay to look after them. Was only about £20 more than I expected.
Had a lovely lunch at the in-laws'. Told the kids to eat as much as they could. Now having supper and all of the family keep wanting stuff that's not on the meal plan. It's very annoying. DH worst offender. Trying to eat the rolls for tomorrow's burgers
Meal plan this week:
Sunday - roast lamb
Monday - eggs/beans/cheese on toast (plus any weekend leftovers) as had big lunch
Tuesday - homemade burgers (apple crumble for pudding)
Wednesday - Sausages, mash, green beans, carrots
Thursday - hm pasties, new potatoes, salad
Friday - Fish and chips and mixed veg from freezer
Saturday - on holiday!!! :j
Think I've gone wrong on YNAB. I keep getting ahead of myself and putting through transactions before they go through the bank which is complicating things. It matched yesterday, so can't have gone too awry but it is annoying.0 -
Drum roll please....
YNAB balanced. I realise this is more exciting for me than it is for anyone else.
I had a weird thing while shopping earlier. I felt really shocked by all the massive consumerism everywhere and a bit repulsed by it to be honest. I Thu k this may be a major turning point.
I have never in my entire life been this much in control of my money.0
