I was completely unaware of that and not sure why it would be but it was on here in 2005!

I have been using it for years and had some major results having given up on Customer "Service" departments. If it works and does what it says on the tin I don't see a problem personally - it's there for anyone to find if they hit desperation with an issue. It certainly worked with the tumble dryer where all else failed.
He wasn't banned until much much later. http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/member.php?u=1045931
But since then, any mention of his site gets deleted.
Its not to do with skipping the correct procedure though from what I remember. It was just a shoddy site that sometimes went too far by posting personal details (rather than business related details).
Given MSE can be liable for what goes on their site, presumably they don't want to be named in any potential lawsuits against this guy.You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -

Becks - sent you a private message with the details - good luck!
Thank you ROTTI, the PM was amended I'm assuming from MSE, and it didn't have s web address on, but after reading these posts I now understand why. Thank you for trying to help, and sorry if I got you into any trouble.
J B, thank you I've filled that form in so I suppose I've just got to wait now, I'm not hopeful about the whole situation, maybe if we had done things sooner the outcome might of been different, just angry with them that the time scale has dramatically changedExperian credit score as of Feb 2016 - 116

Took about an hour. Lucky weather was sunny and dry as this was all done on my drive (drier is in a garage) - not sure what they'd have done had it been pouring down!
So after this happening last Thursday, my wife received a phone call today telling her that our new Indesit IDC75 (which I think is the condensing version of our tumble drier) will be delivered on Wednesday. When my wife explained that somebody had already been out to fix\modify our existing vented drier, the reply was that they were going to deliver the new one anyway?! So it looks they will have a wasted journey, as I won't be accepting this delivery!0 -

Yet another empty promise stint on this on ITV This Morning.
More promises of "we're not going to let this go" etc... yet I've not yet seen what they're actually doing in the first place?
Their consumer"expert" claims to have interviewed the Hotpoint MD - yet they didn't show the interview or go into it - pointless.
It's the usual "something needs to be done about this but I don't know what" brigade.
Interestingly Martin Lewis made a brief appearance and managed to get in much more useful information in 5 mins than This Mornings own Customer "expert" has been spouting for the past 5 odd months.
It'll be interesting to see how the small claims court case in Ireland pans out and also worth noting that it would appear more insurance companies are refusing to cover properties with Hotpoint unmodified machines.0 -
.......... and also worth noting that it would appear more insurance companies are refusing to cover properties with Hotpoint unmodified machines.
Which is why I got more proactive as my insurance company confirmed that if we used it knowing it was a problem we would void our cover. Unattended is not standing over it while it was in operation and even then you would sustain damage so it is all a bit of a nonsense. This is a lot more serious that some realise or are prepared to admit. I have now heard of two other in-laws of in-laws who have actually scrapped machines less than a year old and bought new as they are not prepared to wait until October 2016 and April 2017 for their appointments and were getting nowhere with customer "service".0 -

Meh, I think that's a classic case of 'Cut off your nose to spite your face' isn't it?
Had they made any attempt to go through the retailer?
Couldn't they have kept the machines anyway, got them modified and then sold them on?
Scrapping machines less than 1 year old entirely seems like a bit of a knee jerk reaction to me.0 -

You are still not getting it are you?? Of course they had tried but their retailer would not do anything to help. In my case AO got on board and approached Hotpoint for me and helped get a result but most retailers are washing their hands of it and standing by the "repair programme". If you had read my post properly and taken it in you would see that they had appointments allocated but for October and next year so keeping them that length of time BEFORE they were modified, in their world, was too much of a risk. At 80 you tend to worry more about these things and they play on your mind and stop you sleeping so the outlay on a new machine brought them both peace of mind. It's certainly not a route I would have taken without a fight first but it suits them so I think you need to take a broader view on the whole situation and offer practical advice instead of criticising others. Had they come to me I would have helped them with their problem but they didn't think to ask. I am just happy that Hotpoint broke my appointment as I probably wouldn't have trusted it 100% even after it was done. My new one is working fine and is in daily use safe in the knowledge that it is not about to spontaneously combust!0 -

I wasn't criticising you personally, I just thought that complexly scrapping something which is less than 1 year old was wasteful.
I didn't mean they should keep using it, I simply said a more sensible option would be to discontinue use until it was modified and they could use their new ones anyway, then after the modification they could sell the Hotpoint machines.
This is primarily a money saving site and while it's not me intension to criticise you personally, I think anyone chucking away an otherwise perfectly fine machine and buying a new one is very wasteful.
As I said a more sensible and indeed sustainable option would have been to keep the machines, get them modified and sell them on after. Buying new machines anyway if they want to - but chucking the hotpoint ones out is a knee jerk type reaction and the only people loosing out is them.
Please don't insinuate that I give rubbish advice, I don't mean to be rude but you've been here 5 minutes and while we do obviously have a difference of opinion on the matter I have given a large amount of advice on the subject over the last several months.
I really hope you're joking on the spontaneity combust comments - people seem to be over hyped as it is without comments like that adding fuel to the fire (no pun intended).
