So in essence you hope to be able to 'buy' favourable to your cause reports.0

Legal aid is only for people who are having problems, Legal aid wont help you to obtain benefits. You haven't even applied for PIP lol and you are considering legal support, If this is the case then you must know yourself you don't fit the PIP criteria.... First place to get support is Citizens Advice.
I don't understand why the NHS can't help you with your reports and letters of support, Going private wont make a difference.
You must be mad to contact DWP and request the invite to PIP, It won't make any difference you wont get made a priority case or something, You would be just be better of waiting till you get the invite and the "How your disability effects you" form then you start getting evidence supporting your case.Scottish Legal Aid provides funding for a Solicitor to get medical reports from consultants for people challenging DWP decisions. Here in Scotland legal aid can be accessed for appealing PIP etc. Just I rather avoid that route and get the decision quickly.
You haven't even made the application never mind had a decision....0 -

LOL You sound a delight! Legal Aid is NOT only for people having problems for a start! At what point have I said I am doing this? Jumping the gun, eh! So if I got to Citizens Advice rather than a Solicitor would that mean I think I meet the criteria? LOL0 -

LOL. Are you seriously suggesting a registered consultant would allow a favourable report just because a patient bought it? LOL. Utter madness. Career suicide!0 -

In the circumstances you describe, you are buying a favourable report. The consultant does not have access to your medical history, they only have your word on your symptoms and how they affect you. Are you suggesting it is possible to make a thorough psychiatric diagnosis in an hour?0 -
I have been assessed many many times in a hour to base a detention! Also had in the past meetings wth specialists for reports and they have been in depth. Who said it would be an hour? http://www.expertwitnessscotland.info/home.htm0

You cannot go to a solicitor and get advice and expect the government to pay your bill when trying to get benefits, If that was the case everyone would be doing it.
If you need help with benefit application forms, The first place you would go to is citizens advice as they understand the law regarding benefits and can help filling them in. If you need letters of support etc or evidence regarding your disability you go to the GP and any specialists they refer, I don't understand what going private will do any better.
You are jumping the gun right to the last bit and the worst bit, If you have a condition that merits being on PIP you will be successful, You seem to be thinking of mandatory reconsiderations, appeals and lawyers etc before you have even filled in a PIP application.0 -

Clearly you have not got a clue on how it works here in SCOTLAND! Also you seem to lack the insight that GPs up and down the UK are refusing to provide their patients with any letter. Don't blame them as adds to their workload!
Always think the worst case scenario is what I do. :T0 -

You said you do not see the consultant regularly, that you wanted a one off report. How many hours are you going to be paying for, in order for them to make a full assessment of your health?0 -

Well for a start I stay in Scotland. Secondly I claim PIP and ESA, So I know how it all works, And thirdly I have been to court etc over appeals. Not once did I need legal aid to help me, Legal aid is a last resort not a first resort to obtaining benefits. As I said thats why we have citizens advice, These guys are trained on benefits and the laws and descriptors etc, They even represent people at court, If you think having a lawyer sitting with you at court will win your case than you are very wrong, It's not like a criminal case,
Plus you haven't even filled in a PIP application, I failed to understand why you even mentioned legal aid. Getting a lawyer won't speed up the process of claiming PIP either. Everyone has to wait their turn.0
