Hi,
I have a live DLA award. What happens when I telephone to inform them my situation has changed for the worst?
Will they keep my DLA claim live until they decided if I can be awarded PIP?

If they feel that you need to be moved to PIP, then your DLA will continue to be paid until a decision is made.
If your health condition has worsened, you must telephone them as soon as possible - failure to do so can result in repercussions.0 -
Thanks ,thought they would keep my claim live until they decided.0

Your DLA claim will only continue if the PIP form is returned within the time frame. If it isn't then payments for DLA will stop.0

If you have a current DLA claim, sometime in the next 12 months you will be asked to apply for PIP, personally I would wait till this happens.0 -

Was thinking of speeding it up by giving them a phone as the day to day anxiety waiting for the request to move over to PIP is annoying.
Currently looking at getting a report written on me from a consultant for the DWP done within the private sector. Pretty expensive but hopefully helps secure an award without any agro!0 -

Why would there be repercussions ?
There would be, if someone claimed their condition was worse than it actually was, as they would be obtaining money under false pretences. However, if the condition is worse the only 'crime' would be receiving less benefit than entitled.0 -

Do you usually pay to see a Consultant privately for you ongoing treatment? Can't think that a one off consultation would enable a proper report to be written.0 -
No I don't. A one off written report can produce a ''proper report''. They are used from the criminal courts to DWP purposes.
Scottish Legal Aid provides funding for a Solicitor to get medical reports from consultants for people challenging DWP decisions. Here in Scotland legal aid can be accessed for appealing PIP etc.
Just I rather avoid that route and get the decision quickly. 0 -

Because they don't do it- not part of the NHS. The reports I hope to have done are by registered people such as Psychiatrsit. Plus the DWP might not write to the folk that look after me. So I rather send my application in for PIP attaching the various in depth reports from the relevant specialists.0
