Well I'm on visit no.4 since December. Still gaps everywhere and don't think it's an adjustment that will help now. Let's see what happens after my next visit. The door is sealed up against the gasket on the outside but I can still see light coming through the hinges and sides and bottom. When I pull the handle up the door does NOT compress to make a better seal?

Can i ask what range of door your Rockdoor is ie ultimate/elite or select because this makes a difference as to wether the hinges are adjustable but all the locking mechanisms have adjustable keeps so this would then give compression on the bubble gasket in laymans terms .Even better send me a picture of hinge and door and will help if i can

I paid a simile amount, but guess how much it costs to buy such a door if you are an installer. I saw an invoice which I am sure was not meant for my eyes. The cost is less than £450...

i can assure you it doesnt

However, when the market place offers no real alternative to composite doors we are all stuffed. Which is why I have a composite front door, just like millions of other consumers!
I have a steel front door, which doesn't have drafts, doesn't warp, bow, shrink, expand, stick or otherwise cause me problems. It is a very real alternative to composite, but they cost. I expect it to outlast me, so the cost/year then becomes much more reasonable.

    It's the Ultimate.
Came back out and adjusted it all over and has been better but there were gaps top sides and bottom(You could see light coming through) so I don't know why it was so far out?
It almost looked like it was over adjusted to start with and the middle was bowing?

I appreciate this is an old post but it has made me think. I was just about to buy a RockDoor but they seem no different to others. I'm not paying £1200+ for something I can get less expensive if the quality and after sales isn't there.

If Rockdoor will not get involved in client/installer issues then why are they recommending installers? They don't just give a list, they take your details and then an installer gets in touch. That's fine, but to not want to know (without great difficulty) afterwards has shocked me. I'm disappointed really.

I'll be seeking alternatives. Maybe back to wood, my existing one has lasted over 45 years (it was here when I moved in!)

I would say installer didnt fit it properly in the first place

If you take the time to read through these posts you will see there is a common trend that despite her complaints Andrea 15 from the offset has had her door fitted incorrectly by somebody who hasnt sealed the cill which in itself will cause draughts so has the frame been installed properly? . This same installer has then back healed it to Rockdoor who as a registered installer ourselves know they only supply a new door slab do not instal them normally . Then you have the people who i believe to be fake posters maybee rockdoor competitors who post once and do not respond to my reply to there post which i find strange .Then you get Furts who has a negative view of anything to do with the building trade /home improvement industry so you can always expect his response to be a negative one .

  • Well, I don't know about any of that, what I do know is that I am still waiting on door No. 3 which the bloody installer can't be bothered installing.
(I would also like to remind everybody that door No. 2 was installed by the rock door recommended guy...)
Also, I can scarcely believe that an unsealed cill would cause the door to bend in the middle...

In any case, if these doors ar so pernickety, even if my installer is crap, WHY BOTHER???
  • Because Andrea as i have stated before and will say again if your installer didnt seal the cill a very basic part of the install what else did he not do correctly afterall you yourself say you have a draught from your door the unsealed cill in itself will cause this ,you even said that your installer himself had issues with his now there are two common denominators here Rockdoor and your installer . We have been installing rockdoors since they first came out and have never had so many issues with one instalation not even 3 faulty doors in as many years

  • I repeat... door No 2 was installed by the "expert" and he didn't bother either.

Anyway, I insist, if these doors are SO delicate, are they worth the hassle? Things are installed wrong all the time and for all sort of reason, but you expect them to be resilient/resistent enough.
