  • VALM I live near Newcastle and like it well enough, though I still occasionally need a translator. I've been here for 10 years and English is my first language!

I have no "illegal" ins yet this month - I allow myself to spend £30/month, so far only bought one Essie nail varnish (Buy me a cameo). I don't have any more shopping trips planned so things are looking hopeful :)

I UU a Palmer's Cocoa Butter Lip Salve, this is my HG though I bought about 10 when they were reduced a few years go and I am a little tired of it. So when I looked in my stash and found that I am now opening the last one I was very happy :j Think I might try the Nuxe one for a bit of a spendy treat when this is gone.

Found myself stuck with a LHJ, after a thread on here about how the cheap Nivea night creams were just as good as high end ones, I bought a tub of Nivea night cream. I hate it - greasy and thick and really has to be massaged in every night. I will persist and at least I'll be making an informed decision to spend more in future.

Love reading about all of your progress ladies

Hi ladies. Our trip to Newcastle yesterday was very positive. I liked the feel of the Campus on the whole last time we visited however this time we were seeing the Biosciences Department specifically. We have Sheffield to revisit at the end of the month.

No more UUs though I do have numerous OUTs via eBay (though not all beauty related ) but am pleased to get rid.

Tidied the bathroom earlier and note these products are getting low:-

Elemis Lime Blossom Balancing cleanser - maybe about 10 days' usage left
Elemis PCMC - tube is getting squishy (15ml tube)
Liz Earle Skin Repair light - pump is feeling quite light
    Lancôme Genefique
L'Occitane verbena soap - thin sliver
Lush cosmetic warrior mask - have hit pan
Frizz Ease shampoo - tube is squishy
MAC Prep and Prime - feels very light

I've pulled out a couple more make up items to use this week which are a small Clinique eyeshadow trio and a NARS blush trio.
Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

  • Hello everyone! I've taken part before but I've been slacking these last few months and I've acquired quite a lot over the holiday season. I'm looking to get back on track with a March project pan. I'm going to London in a few days so I may treat myself to some Nyx lip creams/glosses as I haven't been able to find them in any local boots stores. I also need a new shampoo but that's all I will allow myself to buy this month.

    March Project Pan:

    [STRIKE]1. Rimmel Fix + Perfect primer 30 ml[/STRIKE]
    2. Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer
    [STRIKE]3. Malin + Goetz lip moisturizer 5 ml[/STRIKE]
    4. No 7 High Shine lip crayon in Delicate Pink
[STRIKE]5. Nivea rich moisturizing day cream 50 ml[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]6. Dove go fresh deodorant 125 ml[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]7. The Body Shop satsuma shower gel mini[/STRIKE]
    8. Dove vanilla + shea body lotion mini
    9. Simple face scrub 75 ml
    10. Simple facial wash gel 150 ml
    11. Soap + Glory Flake Away body polish 50 ml
[STRIKE]12. Vo5 Give Me Moisture shampoo 400 ml
    [/STRIKE]
    Good luck everyone!

A little update on my PP for March :D

    Hello everyone!

had my birthday money in off my mum and went in Debs and Selfridges and didn't spend a penny of it on make up! i realised i was spending for spendings sake and i really didn't need or even want anything. instead, i got a teapot I've wanted from whittards that was £6 reduced from £20, some posh earl grey that was half price and a tea infuser and strainer that I've also had my eye on for ages with money off too so the money was much more well spent! :)

now we're properly recycling in the house too, its making me realise just how much make up and toiletries packaging is wasteful. hardly any of it is in glass or aluminium that is easily recyclable and the plastic tubes and tubs are a minefield as to if any can go in recycling.

    UU:
Ren body scrub - WBA if part of a set but these are so easy to make theres no point paying for them otherwise!
Trilogy everything balm - HG but realised this was 6 years old  so quickly repurposed as shaving cream where it actually did a brilliant job!
    Elemis - mini hand cream

Those sound like lovely things to spend your birthday money on.

I agree about the recycling. I am currently using a full size pot of the Elemis oil capsules. The pot is gigantic and totally useless for anything else as it is quite shallow on the inside and split into two, plus then you have all the little rubbery pods which hold the oil to go in the bin. Very non eco friendly and I won't be buying more of them.

Hope you have all had a good weekend. Gosh do they fly.

    INS
4 cans of batiste ( half price in super drug) they won't last long.

1 bottle of hair conditioner again on offer

Bouncy bunny shower jelly ( lush) very proud I only bought one item.

    UUs
19)AHC brightening cream 30 ml WNBA nice enough and quite hydrating, absorbed quickly.

    20) batiste dry shampoo WBA I go through this so quickly and it works well.

    21 - 23) sheet masks WBA

    24) cinders bath bomb WBA

    25) mamia bubble bath WNBA I thought I liked the scent when I bought it but I found it too cloying so have used it to clean the bathroom with.

    26) body shop tea tree cool and creamy face wash WDNBA it was definitely cooling and I did not like e sensation so as above I have used it to clean the bathroom which it did not do a good job but atleast I have used it up.

    27) champneys spa indulgence exotic retreat body glow scrub WNBA beautiful texture but the scent was horrible like it had been sat round for 10 years.

    28) blue bubble bar from the lush kitchen which I can't remember the name of WNBA
  • Had a lovely pampering bath and have some UUs to report:

Radox bubble bath - I have strong nostalgia for this stuff but found out recently they test on animals so won't be buying again. :(
Lush Big Conditioner - WMBA - It conditions well but builds body which my hair doesn't really need. I don't like the smell of the jungle one but I also have Sugar Daddy O to try.
Bodyshop Passionfruit Body Butter - WNBA - This was nice enough but I'm steering away from Bodyshop now. I'm not sure about their eco credentials since they were sold to L'Oreal. I trust Lush more at the end of the day.
Avon Footworks Heel Softening Cream - WMBA - This was effective if a bit plain.

I have lifted this quote from the PETA US site.

For its cruelty-free list, PETA US approves only companies that have the very best policies against animal testing – companies whose policies make a real difference helping to stamp out animal testing.

The good news is that they include top high-street brands such as LUSH, The Body Shop and Ecover as well as many fantastic boutique brands that are available in other shops or online. None of these companies conducts animal testing of any kind, and all have made a real commitment to ensuring that there is no animal testing in their supply chains. Not only are their products ethical, their buying power also helps persuade suppliers to stop animal testing.

They state that Avon tests. (The Body Shop also appears on Paula's choice non testing list)
