Both INs and OUTs today. INs first:
18-19. 2x Primark Lavender and Sweet Pea candles. I've had this before and really liked it. Got a couple as they don't always keep their scents long in Primark.
20-21. 2x Primark Madagascan Vanilla Candles. These were only little £1 ones. Don't have any vanilla candles at the moment and it is one of my preferred scents.
22. Baby Balmi in Soft Mint. Picked up in Primark. I think Gemzie121 mentioned it. Now I've used it I'm not sure how I feel about mint flavour lipbalm but I'll see how it goes.
23-24. Superdrug Pro Vitamin Arginine Volume Shampoo and Conditioner. Went into Superdrug for deodorant and sanitary stuff. Don't remember making a conscious decision to buy these. Maybe they fell in my basket?!
25. Rimmel Fix and Perfect Primer. Reduced in Asda. Not getting on well with either of my primers at the moment and had read good reviews so giving this a go.
Few TAs
3. Gosh Mineral Powder Foundation. Struggling enough trying to UU my Lily Lolo which is decent. This is not so I've called it quits. It's too pale but the next shade is orange and it's not finely milled at all. If you get any in your mouth by accident you can feel it like sand between your teeth.
4. Carmex Vanilla Lip balm. Prefer normal Carmex. Didn't smell nice anymore.
5. Carmex Jasmine Green Tea Lip balm. As above except this never smelt nice.
And UUs:
16. Paul Mitchell Mini Ultimate Colour Repair Triple Rescue. WNBA. Got this in LookFantastic Advent Calendar. I don't have coloured hair so this was little more than a heat protection spray for me. Smelt lovely though.
17. John Lewis Sandalwood Candle. WMBA. Not the best scent throw but lasted quite a long time.
18. Wax Lyrical Golden Sandalwood Candle. WDBA. Have one more to use then that's probably it until they start stocking it in my local family-run department store again at Christmas. Haven't been able to find it anywhere else. I love it.
19. La Roche Posay Hydraphase Intense Riche Moisturiser. WMBA. It's nice enough but overpriced IMO.
20. Mini L'Occitane Shea Butter handcream. This was from a freebie set when I ordered their advent calendar. I like their hand creams but I think they're not worth the money. When they're magazine freebies, I'll buy a couple but not full price.
Palette for this week is Sleek Vintage Romance. Also using Eye of Horus Mascara which I'm liking a lot.0 -
Re Avon animal testing...this is from their website
Avon Products, Inc. & Consumer Safety: Commitment to Science…Respect for Animal Welfare
Respect for animal welfare is a cornerstone of Avon's product safety philosophy. In fact, Avon was the first major cosmetic company to end animal testing nearly 25 years ago and we do not test on animals today. Instead, we use non-animal product safety testing methods.
Unfortunately, a few countries require additional safety testing, which may include animal testing. Avon, in partnership with other organizations, works to help advance government acceptance of alternative non-animal testing methods. But if a compromise cannot be reached, we must comply with the testing required by local law. Animal testing is an issue faced by all global beauty companies.
The safety of our consumers is of primary concern to Avon. We are committed to selling only safe products, using only safe ingredients in our cosmetics products and complying with applicable regulations in the countries in which Avon products are sold. Alongside this commitment we also have a deep respect for animal welfare.
In June 1989 Avon announced a permanent end to animal testing of our products. Avon was the first major cosmetic company in the world to end animal testing. For more than 25 years Avon has substantiated the safety of its products without animal testing.
Avon does not conduct nor request animal testing in order to substantiate the safety or efficacy of any of its products or raw ingredients. Our approach to safety evaluation utilizes extrapolations from existing data as well as from computational modeling, in vitro (test tube/cell culture) testing and clinical tests on human volunteers. In some countries, some products may be required by law to undergo additional safety testing, and this may include animal tests. In these instances, Avon has attempted to persuade the requesting authority to accept non-animal test data.
Avon has been active in the development, implementation and acceptance of alternative test methods since the 1980's, working to identify and develop new testing alternatives with other cosmetic companies and with external organizations. Avon scientists have long participated as members of the Scientific Advisory Panel of the Institute of the InVitro Sciences, Inc., a non-profit research and testing organization dedicated to the advancement of in vitro (non-animal) methods worldwide and Avon is a Founding Sponsor of the American Society for Cellular Computational Toxicology. Similarly, Avon continues to support the Fund for the Replacement of Animals in Medical Experiments (FRAME) in the UK, the Center for Alternatives to Animal Testing at Johns Hopkins University in the US, and the European Partnership for Alternative Approaches to Animal Testing.
We are encouraged to see that China recently eliminated the animal testing requirement for certain products. However, China still requires testing on "special use" products (sunscreens, anti-pigmentation/whitening product, deodorant, fitness/slimming products, breast beautifying products, depilatories, hair growth products, hair perm and hair dyes).
Our efforts were recognized as far back as 1993 at the World Congress on Alternatives and Animal Use in the Life Sciences: Education, Research and Testing. Also in 1993, Avon was presented with a Recognition Award from the Johns Hopkins University Center for Alternatives to Animal Testing in the United States for our dedication to the principles of the 3 R's (refinement, reduction, replacement) and the use of alternative tests for safety evaluation.
Reflecting the same commitment to animal welfare, Avon Foundation for Women funding may not be used to fund breast cancer research studies involving animals. The Avon Foundation's guidelines apply only to studies funded by the Avon Foundation and do not impact other research underway at these same institutions. Through 2015, Avon global philanthropy, led by the Avon Foundation, had donated over $1 billion in more than 50 countries for causes most important to women, with a focus on funding breast cancer research and access to care through the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade, and efforts to reduce domestic and gender violence through the Speak Out Against Domestic Violence program.
From what I'm reading they are saying they don't test in the UK but if their products must be tested on animals in some countries then they allow it but they don't ask for it to be done? Am I reading this right?
Lou85 - thank you for this. TBH I find the whole who does/who doesn't thing a total minefield, the various organisations who publish the lists sometimes seem to give conflicting information. I understand that the rules for GB/Europe changed in the last couple of years, but I am not sure if that only applied to new products only and existing formulations which had previously been animal tested were still allowed in or not:(
I will try and do more research if I can, but will not bang on about it further as I don't want to take this great thread too far off topic. Although I do realise that it is important to many.:)The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
Deleted_User it is amazing what falls into the basket, you only have to look the other way for just a split second
UUs
29) Lord of Misrule bath bomb WBA love the display and scent.
30) snowman shower jelly WMBA I love the scent but I prefer shower gels to jellies.
32) nature republic sheet mask WNBA
33) stepping stones foot scrub WNBA this was discontinued a while back but I kept it ax I loved the scent but it's not scrubby enough for my feet.0 -
Deleted_User, I like the bold colours in that palette. I wore Side Car and Half Baked from the Naked palette today. Even MRM commented that it looked nice.
UU from bath yesterday - The Orange Tree bath soak. Not a brand I've ever heard of. Got this in a kit from my Secret Santa. Not a fan of bath soaks so did add some shower gel to the mix.
The Tea Tree body wash has arrived today and I've just showered with it. Must say I feel very fresh.
Need to top up my nail colour tonight. The formula of this OPI Get Cherried Away is bobbins - it chips very easily.Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. Finishing a garnier micellar water and replaced it. I am scared to try a different one as I get on great with it. Apparently micellar water was invented in Paris due to the poor quality of the water- the water is so poor here that I use micellar water for everything; hence I go through it at a huge rate. I would hate to pay more for a product that is not as good as garnier.
Bought a new boi-ing concealer from benefit for the nose- I was using the benefit erase paste on the nose, apparently it’s an under eye concealer.
I went into the department stores where I normally splurge and I looked, admired the products but left it. I was so proud. I tossed out toothpaste and olive oil soap from aldi- it is was ok but the container got really gross from it.
I have not used up a lot as attention was on other aspects of real life and after a through !!! kicking and epiphanies- things were very busy. Make-up will not stop you getting kicked in the !!! by life but at least you have some amour of lip-stick and concealer as you fight back.0 -
Just finished my last tiny sachet of Nivea Visage Night Cream - WBA-
have enough night cream in stock for the moment though.

Ugh, I feel like I need to go out and buy everything in sight. Please remind me that would just make me feel worse in the long run guys
although I may go to lush for a treat this week, it's just been a horrible start to the week and it's only Tuesday. Everything is horrid at work, people are taking their frustrations out on each other and I got snapped at yesterday morning when I was just trying to do my job. I then went home and my little man (hamster) passed away in my hands. I'm on so many nights I hardly see my mum at the moment and he was my only company most of the time I just feel so alone. Just want my boy back
my room is so empty and quiet. A colleague who was a friend but she hasn't really bothered with me recently has been badgering me since Sunday to cover the Thursday before Easter for her decided to badger me in the car park when I arrived at work last night even though I was visibly upset and not in a state of mind to even think about what she was saying as I'd literally just buried him. She said I'll do your Sunday if you do my Thursday, I said yes whatever as I just wanted her to leave me alone. mum then went mad when I told her and said that she's having her cake and eating it... She doesn't to do Thursday but she's getting my double pay shift on the Sunday and it's money I could do with as I'm on reduced hours now as it is because of deterioration in my health. I didn't even think about that it didn't click because I was so upset, I also forgot my brother is coming home the Saturday and I hardly see him and I'll have to work it, mum said I should have said I want her to do sat in return for me doing Thursday so I can see my brother and then do my double pay shift that was mine in the first place ... I do really need the pennies at the moment. I just feel well and truly "had". And like I'm being used. I've text her to ask can she do sat as I was upset and wasn't thinking but so far she's ignoring me. It's so hard to not go out and buy stuff as that was always my way of making myself feel better in the short term... Mum thinks we need to get another little friend this week, not to replace him because he could never be replaced, but because there's a huge void at the moment and there's so many little friends out there who need a loving home and I have an empty cage
doesn't stop it hurting though. It doesn't matter how big or small they are it hurts all the same.
Anyway rant over, onto toiletries... I put a shower gel in the other day to replace the one I finished but it has hardly any smell, think it may have gone off in storage as I'm sure I will have sniffed it in the shop before buying, so it must have been ok originally. I'm hating using it and I'm thinking life is too short. I don't want to waste it do I'm thinking of using it with a bath bomb to create bubbles? And going to put a shower gel in the shower that actually smells nice.No Buying Unnecessary Toiletries 2015/2016/2017/2018

Perfectly expressed. There are some days when only my highest heels, biggest smile and best attempt at makeup get me through.
Gemzie, I suggest you use the pink candle philosphy and treat yourself to the best shower gel in your stash this week. Only a little thing but sounds like you need it
