  • Morning all :hello:
I've been up on and off since half past five after being woken by a bad dream that I really didn't fancy going back to sleep after :o I've been downstairs on the sofa snuggled under the quilt with a cuppa and a couple of cats doing nothing much for a couple of hours.
Still plenty of jobs to be getting on with today as well... need to get my head in gear and get sorted out.
:cheesy: PAD to my money box
    :cheesy: Tutoring
:cheesy: Return £20 I borrowed from savings
:cheesy: Sort out the meat and prepare some dump bags
    :cheesy: Bit of batch cooking
:cheesy: Get the boys to do some housework
    :cheesy: aim for nsd
    :cheesy: All meals from stores
:cheesy: Finalise mr T online shop - due tomorrow (payday :j)
    :cheesy: Work on crochet projects
That will do for now - see you later :D

    Hi Frugalistas,
Not much money saving going on here today, but am keeping the faith:
*Called at garden centre for 3 bags of bark chips. Bought 2 only, hoping I could get away with that. Yes. It was plenty. Saved £7.
*Free fitness shovelling up all the old rotted bark chips, barrowing them down the garden & shovelling them into the compost bin. Then did a bit of edging, weeding & had a brisk walk to the postbox.
*Laundry all gathered up & 1st load in, ready to go on timer for cheap overnight wash.
*Read energy meters & updated my stats.
*Mr f popped out to replenish car cleaning/waxing materials. Remembered to use Car Piggy funds for this. £15 in total, but cheaper than using the car wash as will last several washes & he says it's a bit of free fitness too.
*Will be washing my hair & letting it dry naturally & also aiming to get 2 baths from one lot of hot water.
    *Make tomorrow's packed lunch.
*All free leisure esp. reading my library book & knitting another couple of little cats.
    Cheers,
    F x

  • La E I really feel for you on the money front. I feel your pain, I've been in exactly the same place for a numbers of years on the SE front with DH and now similar but employed. It's the source of some of my stress tbh.

    I've batched cooked:
    Chorizo and lentil soup
    Leek and pot soup

Found a bag of green lentils (dried) OOD of course. Cooked whole bag and will portion and freeze. :T
I prepped beef casserole for slow cooker tomorrow so I can just dump in there in the morning.

Pleased with that, should give us some lunches this week, may see if I can do bread sans BM and see if it turns out alright this afternoon

Yes. They're the same thing. Most of the Kindles made now have a colour screen and you can read books on them but also use them as a wee touchscreen tablet computer. You can download Apps like eBay, Facebook and BBC iPlayer and so on to them and they have a web browser so you can surf the internet on it. You can download music to it too. My OH has a Kindle Fire HD 6 with a 6 inch screen and that has all the above features. I think it was £79 in Tesco in November. I think the Kindle Fire 7 is £49 just now. (Link)

(The early Kindles were more limited than this.)

Negative sides to current Kindle models:

You cannot plug a USB drive into a Kindle. There's no USB port.
You cannot (easily) use Play Store Apps on a Kindle or Android Apps. You can only use Amazon Appstore Apps.
When the screen is locked you will see Amazon adverts. You can pay to get rid of these. I don't think they're too bad but they drive some folks nuts. As soon as you unlock the screen they disappear.
Not everyone wants to put money in Amazon's pockets.

If you can tell me what model Kindle you have I can tell you what it's capable of doing and let you know if you're missing anything.
