            Hello
So small things today so far.
 1. Found 3p roadkill
 2. Took DS to pay in £10 to his building society account and paid in for DD too.
 3. Took 3 reciepts to Mr S on route and had them added on. Now eligible for another nectar reward.
 4. OH bought himself a free coffee from Costalots using his points. So just paid for mine.
 5. Found a newspaper on the bus which I'm enjoying reading on and off.
 6. DS went to his pre paid dance class
 7. Dinner is from leftovers
 8. Will wander up to Mr T later and use up loose change to buy any YS bread and stock up the freezer with emergency loaves.
 9. £50 in Amazon vouchers arrived as my thank you for focus group participation. We are going to use them to buy a new tablet as ours is very cheap and has a crack plus the battery has stopped charging. Amazing how many tablets there are on offer around that price point or less.
 10. It's time to buy new contents insurance so will be checking that out via the cashback sites tonight.
Dawn- your PHD topic sounds interesting. Do you still do anything academic at all? I know you've mentioned speaking at conferences before.

            Hello Weekend Frugalistas,
Lovely day at an NT property in Derbyshire. New pedometer says over 8000 steps, & I deserve extra respect because some of those were from running up to the top of an old stone tower. Anyway, a very few bits of money saving:
*Took picnic so as to avoid paying for lunch in restaurant.
*Did treat ourselves to coffee & scones, but 1 coffee was free with loyalty card, & we paid from our 'Personal Spends' so no hit on the budget.
*Free fitness walking around the gardens spotting wildlife.
*Called at Waitrose for final 3 grocery items on shopping list we couldn't get at Aldi. Stopped for free coffees & picked up free magazine & competition.
*Mr f has really improved my tablet. I was 95% sure I was going to sell it to CEX next trip to city centre. It was sooooo slow after a big upgrade that it became almost unusable. Mr f developed a theory that the problem was with the Facebook app. He tried removing it from his tablet & everything started working perfectly. He's just done the same with mine & it's like a different tablet. Am well pleased. Can use Facebook on my phone or laptop where they work fine.
*Planning a cosy spend-free night in together by the fire, watching 'Trapped'. I will be knitting more cats.
 Have a good evening everyone,

I was out shopping today with OH and as we headed into Iceland (shop not country lol) I grabbed a stray trolley and it had a pound coin in the coinage slot.
 I told OH about this and once we'd finished shopping, she kindly put the trolley back and snaffled the pound !!!! DFW'er - Lightbulb moment : 31st July 2009 - £18,499 DFW'er - Lightbulb moment : 31st July 2009 - £18,499

            Hi February Folk,
So today I continued the Great Big Canal Challenge in MSE-style.
Debt Free-Nillionaire Continuity Plan Month Nine:
 * Fabulous, free couple of hours in some, rare, sunshine along the canal. A fox passed within 10 feet of me while I had lunch, then he clocked me and barked and ran off. Spent £2.70 on a single train ticket back to the car. New car is proving to be really economical with it's wee one litre engine. Made sure we took the shorter route to the start not the longer one which is easily done if one misses the turning. Took a couple of photos. Today's wonderful free moment was watching a heron on the canal bank. Took a photo of him. (Link)
 * OH did grocery shopping in Asda while I was running along the canal as it wasn't far from my starting point. Got some yellow stickered bargains.
 * OH also found a camera shop while I was away. Managed to restrict herself to a £5 pair of binoculars from her budget so we can all breathe a sigh of relief.
 * OH posted two eBay items and refused to be sold first class when second class would do.
 * Took a packed lunch out with us and a flask.
 * Emailed scrapyard because they've sent me the wrong part.
 Lovely day.

Bob we bought the ds's an amaz0n fire tablet for xmas and they think there great. Don't know if that helps. x
I have a two year old Kindle Fire and OH has a new one. We think they're both great for lightweight web surfing. (And I really wouldn't be bigging up an Amazon product if it wasn't great, for obvious reasons. ) If you do buy a Kindle you can pay extra to not be shown adverts as a screensaver. The adverts are not very intrusive, I wouldn't bother paying the extra. ) If you do buy a Kindle you can pay extra to not be shown adverts as a screensaver. Seeds. Thank u for ur help. Do I just keep them
 Indoors till May?
You will need to harden them off before you put them out full time. Basically, this means that you put them out for a few hours during the day, then all day, fetching them in at night. Then, when you are sure there won't be a frost, they can stay out overnight. This is easier if you have a cold frame or one of those small plastic lean to greenhouses, (as you can leave them in that unless frost is likely) but it works perfectly well with putting them out, keeping an eye on them and bringing them in.Dawn- your PHD topic sounds interesting. Do you still do anything academic at all? I know you've mentioned speaking at conferences before.
 Bob
No, not now - the job I retired from last year was let us say 'academic related' but not actually academic. I used to write/ publish lots of stuff, and thought I might get back to this - but I am actually quite happy with my garden and kitchen these days 0 0
