    Hiya to everyone,

Bad start to the day at work, gritted teeth, moaned a lot and ploughed through it
Thought "stuff it", walked home and did favour for boss en route.
Turned out good cos me and OH then went to town (saving me 70p on my bus fare if I had gone to town from work) but cost me a little more cos he came with me, LOL, but meant I had company and didn't have to carry anything.
OH didn't dump me at tills and run either :T so he did extremely well to be in town on a saturday lunchtime with so many people about (anxiety, panic attacks etc). He was twitchy but controlled it well.

Excellent news, wish we had done it much sooner but hey live and learn (and putting it in a Safe place.
OH had paid for a pre-paid prescription for 12 month via direct debit but they never took money and he lost the paperwork (MEN!!).
So ... a letter came fining him as NHS couldn't find evidence he was entitled to free prescription.
Not sure if it was just before this letter came but I had made him pay a year long card (it came and I have it in my drawer, Lol).
Anyway he read the back of fine letter and requested the HC1 form to fill in, filled it in, sent it off and we got a HC2 full help certificate back with Both our names on it .. :j
Job for monday is to sort out this fine letter cos had second reminder about it , and also see about getting refund for the year long card he bought
(then sort out which dentist to use and see when my eyes need doing and sort out new glasses etc)

Cupboards are well and truely stocked up, thanks to Heinz offers at Tesco this week, tins are just 50p (soup, spaghetti, ravioli etc).
We won't be needing much shopping for the next few weeks :rotfl:

Plan for tomoro is to chill out, relax, watch the birds in the garden etc

    Morning all :)
Thanks for the start La E :)
Really interested in all the talk of programmers visualising code in advance of actually writing it - my PhD was on that kind of stuff (though not in the context of coding) and I did lots of postdoc stuff in a computer science department :)

    Right, today's list:
Make OH try on the suit that he bought at the CS yesterday, so I can determine whether it is worth having it dry cleaned  Done - it fits where it touches :rotfl:
Quick tidy up as OH has some friends coming round a bit later Done
    Dog walks x 2 Done
Possible trip to the dry cleaners and definitely to the post office - will walk to save fuel :)Done
Finish shopping list - probably won't go till tomorrow though Done
    HM meals from stores Done
Minimal heating on, light wood burner later. Not so cold today, as long as you are out of the wind Done
Wash little dog coat and prep that and another one (and some other bits and pieces) for ebay listing, hopefully make a few pennies and get rid of bits of clutter :)Drying on the airer at the moment

I am sure there is more than this, so will pop back later to update.
Hope everyone has as good a day as possible (especially Ziggy) :)

Had to go to help DD with something this afternoon, which took a couple of hours :)
Phoned the dog boarding lady we hope to use at the end of next month, and arranged to take pup round to meet her next week :)
Made little game pot pies for supper (and an extra one), used up the rest of the pastry (bought puff pastry) by making some cheese twists (an experiment - not sure if they would work, but they did :D) and some little apple tart thingies :)

Bob we bought the ds's an amaz0n fire tablet for xmas and they think there great. Don't know if that helps. x

Thanks for that I will investigate.

Also, I was interested in what you wrote about sim only deals. Did you mean that your husband moved to sim only with vodafudge or took another contract in the end?
I'm sure I'm out of contract and it costs me a lot each month. I have a galaxy notes which I like a lot but you can buy a handset on ebay or from one of the shops like CEX 2nd hand for cheap...

I have a two year old Kindle Fire and OH has a new one. We think they're both great for lightweight web surfing. (And I really wouldn't be bigging up an Amazon product if it wasn't great, for obvious reasons. ;)) If you do buy a Kindle you can pay extra to not be shown adverts as a screensaver. The adverts are not very intrusive, I wouldn't bother paying the extra.

Thanks too Ally. Useful to know.

No, not now - the job I retired from last year was let us say 'academic related' but not actually academic. I used to write/ publish lots of stuff, and thought I might get back to this - but I am actually quite happy with my garden and kitchen these days :o

I can see why that would appeal. Plus you never stop as it is with your grandma days:D

  • La E Thank you for starting us off this morning.

Today was my big shopping day buying most of the groceries until the end of March as possible, we will need a few top up shops to get us their mainly for F & V and milk and one or two bits that were either out of stock or I didn't go to those stores today, as we don't need the couple of items that from them (cheapest location) until later in the meal plan. I managed to spend less than £150 which is amazing considering the amount of meat, cheese, F & V I bought.

As well as this all the usual bits and pieces happened, I especially appreciated get home with a months shopping to find the fire alight and a pot of tea made.

Going to settle down with OH and watch something on catch up.

  • Happy Sunday :hello:

Did most of yesterday's list apart from meal plan, which I'll do later. Loving the heron ally they are my favourite birds, we used to have one come to a massive tree at the end if our garden every Monday morning when I was young. Don't know where he went the rest if the week but it was only on a Monday he came to ours :rotfl:

My today will mainly look like:
DD to party, present from stash
Made waffles for breakfast using what is quite an old egg but it passed the float test ;)
    Some batch cooking later
Dry and minimise washing mountain before work week starts
Get ready for week - ironing lunches etc...
    Check surveys and FPL
    One thing off annoying list
Watch borrowed DVD with DH tonight

Think that's all, have a good day folks.
  • Morning all,

We ended up going for a carvery on Friday night as I was rather peckish after only eating an instant porridge pot through the day so that can be our carvery visit for the month. I downloaded an app which meant I got a free pud (OH doesn't do puds) and collected a virtual stamp as part of a rewards scheme. We then used our unlimited cards and went to the cinema to see two films in a row! Poochy was staying with the ex so we didn't get in til 1am, then slept in until 10am yesterday when poochy came back

Saturday was a bit spendy. We went into town and I got a Mother's Day present and the only card in Cheltenham with "Mam" on it! It's pretty vile but my Mam will hopefully appreciate it as I always decry the lack of "Mam" cards here in the south!

Also got some essential toiletries and dog food, then we went to Aldi for a food shop. OH is going to batch cook some Thai red chicken curry for the freezer. We had a lovely salad for tea last night to try and account for the carvery the night before!

Found 1p roadkill yesterday so I added this to the 1p, 2p and 5p moneybags I have on the go along with the small change from my purse. I put the remaining food money in the food pot ready for the month ahead

OH sold a game for £8 on EBay so that is packaged and ready to post tomorrow. He also took meter readings and submitted these online

    Spending diary updated

Today will be a NSD and I need to hoover and do some clothes washing. I'd also like to finish the book I started before Christmas

Will probably take poochy to the park in town for a walk today. By not going for our usual walk up the hill we'll save on petrol - I still have quarter of a tank left from last month :T

The ironing pile is back with a vengeance so I'll need to tackle this too!

    Hi everyone - happy Sunday!

Bob - I've got the fire tablet too - really like it - I went for the promotions one and it doesn't bother me at all - just a screensaver so not sure why people get annoyed by them. I also never went for the HD one and I think the picture is brilliant anyway - I guess because it's small it doesn't make much difference...

I woke up today feeling frustrated again about OH not bringing in enough money. :( It's the same every time the 1st of the month comes round and bills are due... Same old story really. I'm boring myself going on about it but we're still in the same position. My logical mind tells me it is an easy problem to solve (get another job while working on your business part time to build it up...) so I'm really struggling to see why we are stuck in this position. I would get another job myself if I wasn't already working two jobs and out the house 60 hours a week doing so.

    Anyway, I digress...
    • Planning on taking the dog a big walk today - new walking route I found online - will take a flask and snacks from home.
    • Made chia seed chocolate pudding - https://goo.gl/wrVzLA - hoping OH likes it because it's soooo good for you and cheap and tasty. I'm going to take it to work instead of yoghurt this week.
    • HM soup for lunch.
    • Roast tonight with YS chicken
    • Teaching tonight :A
    • Class planning for tomorrow :A
    • Really want to sort out my kindle library - am overwhelmed with virtual books - they are going to get the KM treatment today! :naughty:

    Take care out there moneysavers!

    Morning all :)
    Today's list:
Dog walks x 2 (OH has just set off for the first one :))
Shopping day today, using a £6 off a £30 shop voucher for Waitrose, which expires today. I have made a list and will stick to it! I will also take my shopping bags and not buy carrier bags!
List some items on ebay, some for my business, but mostly random small household bits that are not / no longer used and are just causing clutter!
    Sow tomato seeds
HM meals - need to cook a gammon joint today :)
    Any surveys, check FPL
Get items ready for postal survey, I seem to have loads of boxes to post next week (which means several days of queueing in the post office :()

Off to finalise shopping list and get ready to go out. Hope everyone has a good day :)
