I know someone who is 50 and looks 30 tops x
I doubt it. She probably does at first glance, but on closer inspection, she would look closer to her age.
I have never ever met in my entire life, anyone who looks more than 10 years younger than they are. Anyone who thinks someone of 50, looks like they are just out of their 20s needs to go to Specsavers.I honestly don't believe any bank employee would be stupid enough to tell a customer they look about twelve. I suspect the OP misheard them.
I agree.
Re Dirty Magic's post. Maybe there is the odd one here and there, but the vast majority of people (as I said) will NOT look more than 10 years younger.
I re-iterate, maybe at first glance, but not when you look PROPERLY.
If people still think it, then they either have average eyesight or they are poor at guessing peoples ages. You didn't, did you? :rotfl::rotfl:0 -
Due to good genes (thanks Mam and Dad!) I have always looked particulary young for my age and have frequently been thought of as being at least a good ten years or more younger than I actually am.
In my early 30's I got mistaken for someone in their late teens. (Sorry Peter, but it's true!) But that is very few and far between, and usually people will guess my age at about 5-10 years younger.
I very much doubt they really would think a 30 year old was 12, they were probably just joking about and exaggerating.
Take it as a compliment because I'm sure that's how it was intended, and thank your lucky stars you do look young. The only time I used to get annoyed was when people calling at the door would ask if my Mam or Dad was in!0 -
There are some medical conditions that can affect growth and development, which can make some people look much younger than they are. Given the op mentions genetic and medical reasons for the issue, maybe she has one of those conditions.

Op, you can either ignore what other people say, calmly explain why you find the question rude or pointedly ask them about their age and make some comment about the answer. Unfortunately, you won't be able to stop random strangers from asking - your only area of control is how you respond.
I'm not quite that young looking, but not far off!
I'm short and thin, too, so that doesn't help.
I want to respond and let people know they're being rude, but not in a confrontational/rude way ...
And for the other poster ... I said I look young. I never said I was attractive, nor perfect.0 -

Well I do believe you Georgie, because as I said, there will be a few people who are the exception to the rule. And I have seen a few 30 y.o. who look 19 or 20. But then again, as I said, it is at first glance, and then you can tell they are older when you look properly.
Looking 5 to 10 years younger is feasible and believable. Looking 18-25 years younger is not.You didn't, did you? :rotfl::rotfl:0 -

When you look at slebs like Joan Bakewell or Mary Berry you think wow they don't look like they're in their 80s, but as you say, on closer inspection they do.left the forum due to trolling/other nonsense

OMG not ANOTHER one of those 'I am so attractive and lush and have such perfect skin and such a great body and I am sooooooo young looking' claims.
It's annoying, it's boring, and it's been... .
Oddly, I can't see where the OP is suggesting s/he (apologies if I've not noted the gender of the OP) is beautiful/attractive, and I have no idea of the definition of the word 'lush' in this context.
I've a friend whose 14-year-old daughter looks in single figures and I suspect this will continue, and a former neighbour's daughter had medical issues which made her look exceptionally young.
Must be quite unsettling OP, when it was suggested my husband was my father, I was mortified for him. Chin up!“And all shall be well. And all shall be well. And all manner of things shall be exceeding well.”
