Now the women saying they get mistaken for 19 at 40, or mistaken for 12 at 30-something, or mistaken for their daughter's sister and suchlike, I don't believe them. But someone of 42-45 looking like they are a 30-something, is not unusual.
.
Assuming the 'daughters sister' was aimed at me.. it is actually quite true.. I, as I said, do think these people are blind.. given I was 19 when I had her, a 19 year gap between siblings is not unheard of.. she will be days off 22 and my son nearly 25 when the next one arrives.
My 2 grandsons and my daughter attend nursery together and everyone assumes they are 3 cousins, mine is 9 months older than the grandboys .. it isnt because anyone looks young or old it is because people make judgements on other peoples appearances and I think a lot is down to what you wear.. some of my school chums dress older than others .. some look incredibly old and others are still very young looking .. and to some degree how you act.. Obviously I dress like a crazy person and behave like I am 10.. (that bit is also true)
My mother at 63 looks about 50 at most.. I'd be proud to look like her at her age.. and being assumed to be her sister (20 year age gap) is flattery indeed.
The lollipop man always asks my daughter how her sister is meaning me.. she is as freaked out by it as I am.
My nanna always says what you are is reflected in your face.. clearly we are all just lovely!

All that the above posts are proving, is exactly what I said earlier in the thread! (And what a number of others have said!) That the vast majority of people look no more than 10 years younger than they are.
Getting mistaken for 19 at 29, getting mistaken for 30-something at 45, and a man who was 57 looking mid 40s! All of this reinforces what I said, that nobody really looks more than 10 years younger than their age; not when you look closely. And most people don't look 5 years younger!
Mid 40s, so say 44-46. When he is 57 that means he looks more than 10 years younger. All them examples are the complete opposite of your point.
I saw that guy. He looked a lot younger even closer up or after looking at him a while. Now the women saying they get mistaken for 19 at 40, or mistaken for 12 at 30-something, or mistaken for their daughter's sister and suchlike, I don't believe them.
I saw two or three news stories/articles/photos not long back that were of two or more people with a big age gap but people could not tell who was older or people assumed the Mother was actually the daughter. Just because you have decided not to believe them does not mean it is not true. It happens. But someone of 42-45 looking like they are a 30-something, is not unusual.
Any woman who IS getting excited by that though, make the most of it, because once you hit 47/48, your age will catch up with you, whether you like it or not!
I have yet to see a woman over 48 who looks less than 44/45.
How can you possibly know that you have never seen a woman over 48 who looks less than 45? Do you stop and ask everyone their age to be sure? You could walk past an entire group of 48 year old people who look 40, you could not possibly know. You would assume they are 40 because that is how old they look but you would be wrong. And men's age catches up with them not too long after. Most men, when they hit 55/56 will look no less than 48/49.
I'm not saying they look dreadful, and lots of women and men over 50 look OK, but they rarely look more than 5 years younger than their age.
Based on the ages of people you know and how they look to you it may seem rare. That does not mean it is rare.0 -
Gosh some people do NOT like it when people don't agree with them do they? :rotfl:
There are some very defensive people on ths thread.
The fact that is NO-ONE, and I mean NO-ONE looks more than 9-10 years younger than their age.
You keep convincing yourself otherwise though, if it makes you feel better, and brings you comfort.
You can believe what you want to believe...
Don't expect others to believe you, and agree with you though.
Nighty night. :wave:You didn't, did you? :rotfl::rotfl:0 -
And again.

My OH and I are on a Saga cruise to Norway at present, and had to have a laugh yesterday evening. Most people think I am around 10 years younger than I am. This is not a boast. Good genes etc help, and sometimes when I look at myself in the bathroom mirror in the morning, I think they must be crazy. Anyway, we were all dressed up the other night, and this couple thought my husband had acquired a much younger Russian (?) woman and he was some kind of sugar daddy. In reality, we are both 63, so we all had a good giggle about it and took it in the spirit in which it was intended. I refuse to take comments about age seriously. Life's too short to be offended and I'm sure it will catch up with me eventually. Some people seem to age more quickly than others, and it's not always about looks. Attitude to life helps.0

I would imagine that the older you are, the less it bothers you (or it might even flatter or amuse you).In reality, we are both 63, so we all had a good giggle about it and took it in the spirit in which it was intended. The OP is 30 so gets annoyed by people assuming she's not an adult.0 -
I was visiting my dad in hospital the other day and the gentleman in the next bed asked if I was at university (I'm 38).
I have always looked young for my age but most people guess late 20's/early 30's now, rather than university age. I work in a sixth-form so I don't find it a compliment being classed as the same age as my students!Mortgage free wannabeMortgage (November 2010) £135,850Mortgage (November 2020) £4,7840
