the fact that AA doesn't have a mobility component is an anomaly that i don't get either.
they say that mobility decreases as part of the raging process ( which it does) but at 65 most people should expect to be pretty physically active these days.

bAA is paid in a lot of cases, due to the effects of aging. the claimant has no specific disability, just difficulties caused by old age.

DLA is paid for people to enable them to be as active as they should be were it not6 for disability.

an older person would not receive the level of help i get because they only cover personal care.
apart from help with cooking and establishing what things are, i am capable of hacking my own personal care, but have the help to keep me as active as i already am... so yes, i do see the problem with care budgets .

talking about parking etc has given me another thought.
many places give pensioner discounts and carers get concessionary prices ...
as ithe disabled person, i pay full price for myself, plus a concessionary price for my carer..
so to do anything, it costs me more.

so i suppose you can offset the cost of petrol/parking against this ;)

Surely you're automatically eligible for a Blue Badge and the free parking that frequently goes with it?

Most of the leisure and cultural facilities I know have reduced rates for the disabled although not always for those of pension age. I'm not saying that everybody over 65 should get a reduction but I think it's wrong to say that older people get concessions and disabled people don't.

It is, but the additional pension elements are linked to the CPI which is presently at 0% so there's no rise for that part of the pension.

So overall the pensioners will get a rise in their income.

Just checked, our county's concessionary ticket for swimming and leisure facilities is available to those claiming ESA/JSA/HB/IS/CTB - nothing for those of retirement age.

Yes, but not as large a one as first appears, particularly after tax.

i suppose it depends where you live, and i am talking about where i live.
for instance .... i like to swim, as being blind, exercise can be difficult.
i need my PA to swim, as i have to follow her. it costs £2.10 for her as a carer ( the same as a pensioner) it costs me £470, a total of £6.80, so a lot more for me to swim than a pensioner, over 2 times as much..
i do have a blue badge but rarely use it ( only when i go to the dentist really as it is on a main road, and never if there is only 1 disabled bay free)
no one pays for parking in my council area and apart from that i only really go to a shopping centre ( free parking for all) or my daughters ( she doesn't charge me either ;) )
apart from that we usually go by bus or train

And a DECREASE in income based benefits like PC and an INCREASE in tax

But I thought you said that you had to spend your DLA on parking and petrol?

I've noticed you seem very angry with pensions, Maybe you should have planed better for your retirement, That way you would have no problem having to be able to retire at 55,

But you seem to keep on about your father working for at least 200 years, three jobs a week,

No person needs to work 3 jobs unless they have over stretched themselves because of children or too much buying a property, They could of decided to have less children so they did not have to work millions of hours a week,

Pensioners are game, Grey vote means nothing any more,

I have the guts to stand up to the likes of this person, Not once have one of them sorted out a pension fund but yet it's you think it's disabled and sick who happen to be a problem.

parking has to be paid in chesterfield ( where i shop mostly) the bolsover area car parks are all free though, as is meadowhall ( though iu avoid it unless necessary)
funnily enough, the car needs petrol to get it to chesterfield and to my daughters ( she lives about 35 miles from me) as i live in a rural area, then the car is essential most days ( the buses would be more expensive than using the cawhen you consider the price of swimming for me and my PA, along with fuel, it costs all but £10 just to go swimming.

i know you think DLA is a fortune, but after I've paid my contribution to the council, swam once a week and visited my daughter ... the whole lot is gone!
so it covers me for 22 hours a week.... the other 146 hours of the week, i am mostly at home, mostly alone because most of my friends/family work.
