For anyone needing kit for an elderly person, the Red Cross has an emergency loan scheme that I found fantastically helpful.
All local councils certainly used to have a completely free emergency button call button system. I found them lovely to deal with, helpful well above and beyond. No one ever talks about the service but I see a lot of adverts for exactly the same service for a hefty fee.
Valli, are you heading this way? *safe journey* wherever you're going.
House looking fine, as long as I don't peer too closely.Better is good enough.0 -
Me again. All jobs from today's list done except gardening. Also one load of washing done which is now on airer.
Leg needs a rest, so no gardening or second dog walk today. I intend to make some apple turnovers for tonight's dessert and read the paper.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Be-well vibes foe Jazee's OldDog.
Narc0 hopefully life will calm down a bit - hope your friend's foot isn't too sore today. Well done for helping get the animals dealt with for her - they can't exactly help themselves!:o
Took a fall yesterday, so I'm a tad sore today; nothing major damaged though, thankfully. I've been chivvying Mr LW into doing a few more tasks today, as I'm still quite stiff and achey.
2 x WM loads done - 1) towels and hankies, and 2) dusters - there was a bagful wanting washing.
It occurs to me that after Mr LW retires, I probably won't get so much chance to post on MSE; I shall still try to pop in at least a few times a week - we'll just have to see how it goes.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -

South East - Gavin-land (Gavin & Stacey) actually. Thanks for the 'safe journey' wishes.
I have ironed the 3 items that were waiting and stuck the maiden in front of a sunny, open window. And cleaned the dining room.
LR and my bedroom need a flick round, but it's sunny so a good time for washing the car - driving on country roads takes it's toll. And I need to see if I can replace the centre (third) brake light.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Afternoon all.
The walk to the river didn't happen despite getting up at 6am! Zack was pulling like crazy again resulting in him choking himself. I was doing the "no pull" stopping and making him sit but he still pulled. After a mile I gave up and headed home. He wasn't impressed as he knew the park was literally around the corner from where we were so kept trying to turn back. So thats a Halti, a front led non-pull harness, a padded back led non-pull harness, and now a Canny collar all of which cause him to either choke or end up with sore eyes. Roll on the warmer weather when I can take him out really early and train him to walk on a lead with fewer distractions so it might actually stick!
Any ways I've been out for more milk (thats about 8 4pinters I've bought this week!), and a sliced loaf as there's none in the freezer. Towels have been washed and out on the line for most of the day, DD's pillow & a couple of toys from her bed have been washed, her quilt is in now. I have a big pan of Scouse on the go as its Global Scouse dayDD won't be happy, but I've made sure there's plenty of meat in it so that should help lol
Plan for the rest of the day is to do the ironing, portion out crisps/coldmeat for packed lunches and I might do the bread as well. DD has thins for her breakfast and lunch (Lots reduced in Mr A the other day so I nabbed 5 packs as DD will put salad on them but not on rolls or sandwiches..strange child!) so we only need 4 slices a day and I'm sick of having to throw the end of the loaf away as its gone mouldy. DD is due home about 6ish I think so I best get on with the ironing. :wave:Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -
Thanks for all the advice and encouragement regarding elderly "devices". The Red Cross locally is good apparently but not open on Saturdays, hence the panic yesterday. Someone on Freecycle has just offered 2 walking frames so we may get them so we can keep one in each house; she can leave the 'new' one down at BIL. She got off to his house ok this morning with both her boys helping her down the stairs into the car while I was at church. Apparently she seemed brighter again.
Friend with toe is fine, hobbling around and bored already - she's a riding instructor and dog agility trainer so isn't used to taking life at a slow pace. We're on standby for animal care if needed.
LW hope you are ok, is it national falling over week or something?
Came back from church and did an hour in the garden which was lovely although the wind is freezing. Came in for lunch then went out for a bit longer, cleared up the prunings and had a nice bonfire. I remembered some 'confidential' recycling in a box in my study so that's now on the fire and out of my way.
I've had a 'very grateful' text from the man whose report I sent yesterday, he's coming for a private lesson tomorrow so that is rewarding.
I now have a list of 9 things I'd like to get done in the next day or so ranging from preparing tomorrow's lesson to menu planning for when my mum arrives on Thursday. Mr N has an evening full of forms to apply for the flat complex we hope MIL can get into.
Did anyone get any garden bargains in Ald1 this week, I think it was Thursday's offer but I didn't have time to go?Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.0 -
And to add to my pleasure, there were 2 fairies (long tailed tits) on the bird feeder while I was having lunch in the conservatory. Made my day, I haven't seen them in the garden much at all this winter.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.0

Making the most of a charity shop collection tomorrow morning, I have been in the boys' room. 2 very large bags for cs and lots of recycling.
Ironing done
LR dysoned and furniture replaced. I loved the minimalist feel but there was no room for ds1 to return or for Henry to be stored.
Park visited to see the ducks. We saw some very colourful ones. I did look for their type but have forgotten. Ds2 said he doesn't like the playground any more
Got car cleaned in & out yesterday, Standard job was £10 Good job was £12. I chose standard which was just as well as this morning car was covered in sand again. We are no where near to the coast.
Sorry you fell LW. X0
