  • Afternoon all :) Hope you're all having a good day

Today I have worked the first of my overtime shifts this week.
Now lying on the couch (slightly rough) watching football scores coming in
There's a pile of ironing staring me in the face just now so I'll start doing that come 3 o'clock
I've still not looked up the loft in this house so I'll do that today

    Afternoon everyone! I've been a bit AWOL since becoming debt free in December, however I've still been hard at work, saving money! I'm getting married in July and then we'd like to save for a mortgage deposit so I'll be being very frugal which I am used to with the help of everyone here! So today;

    - Meet OH from football and go to appointment with wedding cake lady
    - Check bank account
    - Check Nectar survey's, haven't looked at them for a long time!
    - Meals from stores
    - Have a chilled out day on the laptop/in front of the TV as I'm feeling a bit rough with a cold! :(

Hope everyone is OK and having a good weekend! :)

  • Hi everyone, I'm new but thought this thread might help motivate me as I am terrible for spending money that I don't really have! Today I went volunteering so had to pay a bus fare and rain fare (next time I will walk to the station and avoid the bus fare but was running late today!) but I did NOT buy my usual Costa latte to have at the station and will NOT but a McDonald's when I get off the train as I usually do. Also plan to take a bottle of drink next time as had to buy a bottle of Coke today (we can't have open drinks in case of contamination) so that's 2 things planned to be more frugal next time :) going to sort through the freezer hen I get home and see if we can go all week without buying any more frozen food and then have a few things to post for sale on FB :) going to put the change from my fares in my sealed pot too lest I get tempted to fritter away the coins in. Y pocket! :D

    Thoughts are with you Ziggy

The ex has collected poochy for the day so we're feeling a little lost off! She's coming back this evening.

We went into town and OH found and bought his wedding shoes. They were £5 under budget so I've transferred the money and updated the wedding spreadsheet. OH then treated me to a hot chocolate and danish before we went to the cinema using our unlimited cards.

NSD for me both today and tomorrow. I have less than £20 in the bank to last until pay day on Friday plus I need to buy a prescription on Monday

I have the option of doing 4 hours overtime at work tomorrow which I think I'll do - it's all going in the wedding pot.

We had two RSVPs back today so I've updated the spreadsheet.

All meals from stores - veggie chilli and jacket potatoes for tea tonight.

Hoovering done. Ironing and the dreaded bathroom still to do.

Check banking/ FPL/ surveys. Clear up email inbox and look to set up a new email under my married name :)

Have a relaxing weekend everyone, and a special hello to the newbies :hello:

If you have regular prescriptions to pay for and live in England you might benefit from a prescription "season ticket". (Link)
    1. A three month PPC costs £29.10 and could would you money if you need more than three prescribed items in three month.
    2. A 12 month PPC costs £104.00 and could save you money if you need more than 12 prescribed items in a year.
Or you could ask your GP to prescribe you more medicine on one prescription. They're not always allowed to do this but a bigg box of pills costs the same as a small box of pills.

Or you could use an online pharmacy which might be cheaper than the £8.20 the NHS charge in England per item. Just make sure the pharmacy are registered with these folk so you can be sure your medicines are safe. (Link)

  • Hi all,

Not such a great frugal day...
    - haircuts for all the family
    - top up shop cost £18
    - Forgot to take the meat out of the freezer for tonight's stew but have instead made a veggie version using store cupboard ingredients.
    - Laundry mountain tackled - now only a molehill left. All washed on 30 and hung on the airer/around the house to dry.
    - Found diesel at 97.7p so topped up (hub's car)
    - checked FPL
    - Will check Quidco surveys later
    - drinking cheap imported wine (Dad brings over boxes of red from Lidl in France @ approx €5 for 3l) Although I probably ought not to be drinking as I have a 10mile run tomorrow. However playing referee to my kiddos has sent me in search of sanity...

Thanks Ally - I don't need to do this as I get a 2 month supply for £8.20 but my OH has a season ticket

    Other bits done today:
    Updated my alumni details online
Banking checked and DD for last loan payment reduced
Baking potatoes are in the oven for tea
OH playing on Xbox games he got for Christmas and has rather neglected! I'm just about to read a chapter of me book
