When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.:)

Morning all, thank for starting us Maria.
My today looks something like this:
DD to swimming for rearranged lesson
Supermarket with list, friends over for dinner and there is little in, but will use what we have and add to it. Will also pop to mr t to spend my survey voucher as its on flowers
Quick tidy round before friends arrive
Washing away, heating off, it's going to be quite mild today
Stash a pile to fleabay tomorrow
 Check bank, survey, FPL
Look at February list and see what's next, only quite big things left. See if any other things for March list
Try and do meal plan for next week too
 Have a good day everyone0

            Morning all,
Its been a busy week so I will mainly be trying to regroup today. DFW things are, update the accounts spreadsheet. I have a short shift of about 5 hrs late afternoon/early evening, I shall make sure I go well fed and watered so I dont go to the vending machines. I will do my meal planning for the next few days and then visit @ldi once it opens to shop and do my batch cooking. I will do one load of washing to get mine and DH work stuff done for next week, mostly light shirts and trousers so I may be able to dry it on the line. The jeans and jumpers definitely wont dry so they will have to wait till we have some sun forecast, it sounds silly to have to leave stuff but I really try and avoid drying clothes indoor because we do suffer with damp quite badly here, the launderette can get pretty expensive if I use it to dry clothes except when I absolutely need to. Take ebayed item to post office and post second class.
Take care and have a good day everyone.0

            Morning all
Thanks for the start Maria Hope the funeral goes as well as can be expected Hope the funeral goes as well as can be expected
Goodness LaE, I had a quick look at your link, but bullet journalling looks way too complicated for my poor old brain  :rotfl:
OH and I are off to an auction today. I shan't be buying unless I can get business stock at a knock down price (unlikely ). OH will probably buy stuff (wish we still had that roll eyes smilie we used to have on here) but will be spending his own cash and not running up debt (those days are over!) Bought a few things for my business, nothing exciting, but I got a lot for the money, and new stock encourages people to stop and look. ). Bought a few things for my business, nothing exciting, but I got a lot for the money, and new stock encourages people to stop and look.
So, small list for today, as we will be out for much of it:
Dog walks x 2 (OH just headed out for first one) Done
No heating on downstairs Still off
Leftovers for dinner (will treat ourselves to a cuppa and a snack at the auction, in lieu of lunch) Spent a grand total of £4 on lunch, such as it was. Just had a nice (HM) curryfor dinner though
Finalise shopping list later ready for a shop tomorrow (it will be Mr W this week as I have a money off voucher ) Must do this ) Must do this
Light wood burner later (it's much warmer than the heating anyway) Done, very cosy
Heat water for free in kettle on top when it is alight Done, used a couple of kettles full already Done, used a couple of kettles full already
Better go and get ready to go out - hope to be back by early afternoon Got back by 2pm Got back by 2pm
Brought all auction lots indoors and cleaned everything that needed it. Carried some boxes upstairs but still some to take up. I should be thinner than I am!
Hope everyone has as good a day as possible (special thoughts for Ziggy)
The weather has turned really bad again here, with heavy rain and high winds 0 0

            Hi February Folk,
Thanks for the starter Maria. I'm sorry for your loss, I hope your friend has a good send-off.
Another busy day at Dowd Towers:
Debt Free-Nillionaire Continuity Plan Month Nine:
 * We transfered all salvagable items from old car to newer car keeping the boot as emptry as possible.
 * Post a DVD box set sold on eBay. Will also post a 'broken' laptop if the eBay buyer gets around to paying me! Who are this people who use Buy It Now with the Immediate Payment Required feature and then don't pay immediately? Proceeds to the newer car fund.
 * Need to go to town. Will buy cheap motor oil and a cheap house lightbulb while we're there.
 * Use an old lemonade bottle to store water in the boot of the car.
 * We're doing quite well with free stationery: RM Surveys provided us with way too much sellotape, a charity randomly sent us some labels with our address on when we donated and we keep all incoming envelopes for re-use.
 * Managed to get another use out of the kitchen/parcel scales by warming the nearly dead battery in my hand for two minutes. I'm not buying another battery til that one is well and truly extinct.
 How about you guys?

Good morning everyone, and happy weekend! :j
Forced myself out of bed an hour ago - dh has had a restless night and is very low this morning, so I suspect today may be spent in a bit of a panic and generally worried. Also got an early morning call from bestie asking if I could look after her ds today as she needs to go to A&E for more blood tests, I worry about her a lot of the time anyway as her health is on and off after an illness as a teenager. She thinks it's nothing but I doubt the out of hours nhs would have called her back if it was nothing...
Today's list: Check banking and PAD Check banking and PAD No housework other than hoover, washing dishes and clothes and food prep (it must be someone else's turn) No housework other than hoover, washing dishes and clothes and food prep (it must be someone else's turn) Make sausage and mash lunch for the boys Make sausage and mash lunch for the boys Try and stay calm Try and stay calm Encourage dh to have a nap later Encourage dh to have a nap later Get ds to gymnastics Get ds to gymnastics Make time for me at some point Make time for me at some point Use up food in the fridge that is now desperate Use up food in the fridge that is now desperate Box up veggie soup and freeze Box up veggie soup and freeze Start a shopping list for the big monthly shop to be delivered on payday. DH has just gone to collect bestie's son and take the boys to football so I'm going to get on and get stuff done while they're out.

            Hi all,
Bit of a stressful morning not helped by lashing rain. I'm still calming down. I think the best thing to do is to keep busy:
 * The old car has gone and the cash is in the bank. This was not a simple transaction...anyway it's done now.
 * Homemade KFC for dinner.
 * Cleaned muddy boots in a puddle on the way home.
 * Replaced battery in one car key fob and found out how to take the anti-hijack mode off so that all the doors unlock when you click the fob not just the driver's door. Thus Google saved a trip into the garage to get them to do it.
 * Shopped around for cheapest 5W/30 motor oil. B&M came up trumps. The left over oil from the old car will be given to a deserving neighbour as it's not compatible with the newer car.
 * OH spent £12 Iceland vouchers from RM Surveys.
 Ally's Adventures in Engineering Land:
*The spare car key was soaked in WD40 from stores as I couldn't get the smurfing screw out of it. Managed to get the key fob apart. Part of the wee circuit board had fallen off. The fob would lock but wouldn't unlock. I took it apart and saw that a piece of circuitry had fallen off the circuit board, the bit directly under the unlock button. Nissan wanted £190 for a replacement. Erm...nope, not paying that. I took the other (working) key fob apart to see which way up the stray componant goes and then glued on the errant part with glue on the end of a cocktail stick making sure that solder touched solder at each point...et voila! The new screwdriver bit to open the case cost £1 and is reusable. The glue cost £1 and I only used a drop. The cocktail sticks cost £1 and I only used one. I reckon that's a cost of about 3p. Really proud of myself.
 still typing...

            Hello All
CCL - I hope your friend will be ok. Sorry to read OH is having a harder time as well.
Maria - sorry for your loss.
It's wet and grey here. Tried to get to the building society for DD as I've had some money for her sat for weeks waiting to pay in. But as the buggy space was already full on the bus we arrived too late to make the opening hours. It's fine I will try again next weekend.
Have done a few loads of washing and tidied up the kitchen. Easy pasta tuna bake tonight.
Made a PAD of £65 so now under the 2k mark (just) should have more funds to put towards this next week. Have now hit 22% of my target to be debt free by next Christmas.
Have put DD in a tiny pair of my son's old jeans this morning as well as a cardie and top from friends. Her only new clothing today is a pair of socks (gifted by an Auntie) so we paid for her nappy only
Not much from me really as still resting as top priority.
 Bye for now
