    Watford Gap is near the village of Watford, I assume many like you say mean Watford off the M25.

    Why would you assume that?
    I would assume they meant Watford gap.

    I meant assuming Watford Gap and big Watford being in the same place - I would hypothesise more people were familiar with Watford off the M25 as a larger settlement than the village of Watford.

    Are some people winding us up on here?

    Are people from the South actually being serious on this thread... ??? Do they really think that anywhere north of the River Thames or North of Kent/Sussex/Essex etc is 'the North?'

    I could understand a child of 6 or 7 thinking this, but surely adults with a normal, standard education would know this is not true.
    You didn't, did you? :rotfl::rotfl:

    ^ this.

    I'm really good at geography, doubters, but when you grow up in South London, north of the river is another country

    As a south Londoner I found my internal compass went ballistic if I ever tried to cross the river :)

    This is an amusing thread, like hot cold rich or poor north south is relative to where you are.

    To me North is Sheffield or above. I live in Cheshire at the moment and it feels almost Southern-ly!

    I live in Chichester.

    So London is in the north.

    Agreed?

    You MUST agree. Or you will look incredibly silly won't you?
