Not sure why but it winds my insides up something chronic......so much so that I have to find another station to listen to.
There's no 'g' in Serious Jockin'. Cuz it's serious...:p:huh: Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -

Ooops I've just used that in my post above!"The truth is of course is that there is no journey.
We are arriving and departing all at the same time."0 -

Even a sleeping, restaurant or buffet car?
Signs like these are still quite common on station platforms...0 -
Basically .......
I cringe when a work call starts like this
Basically my internet doesn't work and I've basically already tried X & Y and basically it still isn't working so basically I'm ringing to find out what is basically wrong
ARGHHHH Basically is basically a totally unneeded extra word that you basically don't need to use....Basically
And 'obviously'.
No, it's really not obvious at all.0 -
My Husband (& Mum for that matter) always ask the most random questions possible when I tell a story. Questions that have no bearing to the story/don't add to it in any way. My Husband asks because he's trying to make conversion, rather than asking a question he's genuinely interested in getting an answer to.
For example I was telling him about a meeting I was in. He asked me which floor of the building it was on. 1. He's never visited my place of work 2. Even if I told him, he wouldn't know where it was. 3. The floor has nothing whatsoever to the story.
It makes me so angry. This is why I don't tell him much anymore ha.
That might be mission accomplished then.
I do this to a friend of mine. He can never be brief when telling us anything. He goes into all sorts of detail and can sometimes spend five minutes debating with himself if he's got the right person who said something.
"Bob said...no hang on it might have been....or was it...no it was definitely...."
Not important, just get on with it.
We now chip in with random questions like your husband, it livens things up. "Was there plenty of water in the cooler?", "Were the blinds open or closed?", "Were the lifts working?"
Sometimes he plods gamely on determined to get it all out so we get even more random. "Were there any monkeys?"
It never stops him, even when after a 15 minute monologue I look at him and say "All that boils down to you was that you went to a meeting and your sole contribution was white no sugar."
Why didn't you just say that? :rotfl:One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0 -

really gets on my nerves!!!!
The amount of times I see that on social networking sites drives me mad. I just wanna grab these people by the scruff of the neck & shout nooooooooooooo!
Ok - I'll bite. What's wrong with "instead of"?
Plenty of sources have no issue with it.Gloomendoom wrote: »Even a sleeping, restaurant or buffet car?
Signs
Well, these are still quite common on station platforms
Yes, but you're highly unlikely to have a rake of unpowered coaches... Plus majority of stock will be powered multiple units, so makes sense in that context.
I agree with sleeping/dining/buffet car, although in that context I've heard both coach and car used interchangeably... Um..I'm sure I'm still more or less correct though :rotfl:0 -
'Off of' really annoys me. A regional thing, but it is really annoying.0

Yep, I hate it when the mrs says "get off of me"... :rotfl:0 -
I have a couple of phrases and words that really irk me.....
'I need to spend a penny'.....I have no idea why but that really makes me rage inside. I know where it's come from, and why people say it, but it annoys me!
'Doing my nut in'......just, no.
Anything that has come off the back of TOWIE 'Amazeballs' etc
I Swear down
And I really annoy myself with my lifelong inability to pronounce 'oven' properly, I always end up saying 'othen'. Idiot.0
