Husband or wife - Who's the better cook in your household?

We are both good at different things.
I make chillis, lasagnes, cottage pie and a mean pizza dough.
He makes a better roast dinner than me though he cant make a decent cauliflower cheese to go with it so I do that bit.
He also does a good risotto but I like to bake and have a go at new recipes.
Between us we do ok which is just as well because I cant stomach ready meals. They just taste wrong.Make £10 a Day Feb .....£75.... March... £65......April...£90.....May £20.....June £35.......July £600 -
When my ex and I lived together, he was the better cook. He trained to be a chef years ago (he didn't work as a chef) and actually enjoyed cooking. I don't enjoy it and openly admit that I am a pretty rubbish cook.
I used to stay out of the kitchen when ex OH lived here as that was his place and I'd just enjoy the delights that he created!Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free
Mortgage free since 2014

I used to be the better cook but since my wife shed her silly fussy eating hang ups, she has become an excellent cook. She really enjoys cooking.0

Me. Husband doesn't cook, apart from occasional toast for breakfast; he doesn't enjoy it.
I would love him/anyone to cook more. I spend far too much time in the kitchen. It's such a waste, but it'll be different when the kids leave home. Marmite on toast for dinner is perfect!0 -
I don't cook because cooking in a wheelchair in a galley kitchen is mission impossible. My OH is a lovely cook but has phases where we will have the same 10 meals for week then one day something completely new will appear on my plate.
In rehab I rocked the roast potatoes and home made pancakes but until we can afford a bigger house no one will ever delight over my talents!0 -
Me
Hubby doesn't cook, can't cook, although he's a great KP
He went from mum to wife, to takeaways to me
He helps me a lot though with peeling, washing up etc0 -
If you worked this out on a percentage rate I'd guess that men would come out slightly on top here and far more of my friends and family the men seem to cook a better meal, Not saying women cannot cook, And it is me that cooks better in my house by far.0

Definitely the missus - she's a catering trained. The only issue tends to be quantities - she's fine catering for double and triple figures, but two ends up with quite large portions ...
Me, I can cook, but timing is very poor - when you cook for one you don't really care that the potatoes are done 10 mins after the rest of the meal, you just add them to the plate as and when they become available.0 -
I would imagine that most women would find this hard to answer, as it's only them that does the cooking.
Men claim they are better; 'most chefs are male blah blah blah,' well put your money where your mouth is then, and share the cooking at home!
(cue a shed load of men claiming they DO share the cooking at home.
) cooeeeeeeeee :j :wave:0 -
Me, as my DH hardly ever cooks beyond fishfingers or the occasional risotto unless I stand over him with instructions which defeats the object as far as I am concerned. I have had a lot more practice over our 34 years of marriage. He can do spaghetti Bolognese and has done the occasional roast but it is painful to watch how stressed he gets with that. If anything happened to me he would survive on ready meals, pies or fishfingers whereas I tend to avoid processed food.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards.
